1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThere is no single best Void item in Risk of Rain 2: each one can corrupt a regular item you already carry. For a broadly useful defense, consider Safer Spaces; for healing while moving, choose Weeping Fungus. Lysate Cell depends heavily on your survivor and Special skill, while Benthic Bloom is a high-variance gamble. The right pickup is the one whose effect helps your build more than the item it replaces.
How Void items change the decision
Void items are not simply bonuses added to your inventory. Picking one up transforms carried stacks of its corresponding ordinary item, so the choice has both an upside and an opportunity cost. For example, Safer Spaces corrupts Tougher Times, Weeping Fungus corrupts Bustling Fungus, Lysate Cell corrupts Fuel Cell, and Benthic Bloom corrupts 57 Leaf Clover. The Void item category lists these items and their counterpart relationships.

The Survivors of the Void expansion must be enabled for these items to appear. Before taking one, weigh four things: how dependable its effect is, whether it fits your survivor and build, what counterpart you will lose, and how much randomness it introduces.
Best Void items by situation
Safer Spaces: dependable damage prevention
Safer Spaces blocks the next incoming damage instance, then recharges after a cooldown. The wiki result gives that recharge as 13.5 seconds. It corrupts Tougher Times, replacing chance-based blocking with a more predictable block on a recharge cycle. That makes it a strong defensive option when you value consistency, but it is not a free upgrade if you prefer Tougher Times’ chance-based protection or already have stacks you want to preserve. Safer Spaces’ item page describes its effect.

Weeping Fungus: healing for a mobile build
Weeping Fungus heals you while you sprint, making it a natural fit for survivors and builds that stay on the move. It corrupts Bustling Fungus, so you give up the stationary healing zone associated with that item. Choose Weeping Fungus when personal, mobile recovery is more useful to your run than standing still to create a team-healing area. The Weeping Fungus item page covers its effect.
Lysate Cell: valuable only when your Special benefits
Lysate Cell grants an additional Special skill charge and reduces the skill’s cooldown, but it corrupts Fuel Cell. Its value therefore hinges on how useful another Special charge is for your survivor and whether losing Fuel Cell’s equipment-focused benefit fits your build. It is a targeted synergy pickup, not an automatic choice. The Lysate Cell item page describes the item.

Benthic Bloom: high upside, high variance
Benthic Bloom upgrades random items at the start of stages, which can produce powerful improvements but makes the outcome difficult to control. It corrupts 57 Leaf Clover, so taking it also means giving up Clover’s effect. Treat it as a gamble: the stage-start upgrades may suit your run, or they may not improve the items you most need. Benthic Bloom’s item page describes the effect and counterpart.
Pluripotent Larva: an extra life with an inventory cost
Pluripotent Larva is consumed to grant an extra life. When it activates, it also corrupts eligible items you carry, which can turn a run-saving effect into an unwanted inventory change. Its value is greatest when surviving a likely death matters more than keeping the affected items in their ordinary forms. The Pluripotent Larva item page explains its effect.

Polylute: consider it as an offensive option, not a proven winner
Polylute is a Void item, but the available item information here does not establish enough detail to compare its full effect or prove it is the best offensive pick. Consider it in the context of your build rather than treating a universal ranking as settled. The Void item category identifies it as part of the family.
Quick choice guide
| Item | Consider it when | Counterpart cost | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safer Spaces | You want a predictable defensive block. | Tougher Times | Recharge-based blocking replaces chance-based blocking. |
| Weeping Fungus | Your build heals while sprinting and staying mobile. | Bustling Fungus | You lose its stationary team-healing zone. |
| Lysate Cell | Your Special benefits from an extra charge and reduced cooldown. | Fuel Cell | The benefit depends on your survivor and what Fuel Cell contributes to your equipment build. |
| Benthic Bloom | You are willing to accept random upgrades at stage starts. | 57 Leaf Clover | Potentially strong upgrades come with uncertainty and the loss of Clover’s effect. |
| Pluripotent Larva | An extra life is worth risking changes to eligible carried items. | Eligible carried items are corrupted when it activates | It can save a run while changing items you wanted to keep. |
| Polylute | You are evaluating an offensive Void item for your build. | Not stated in the available item information | A comparative ranking is not established here. |
Are Void items better than their regular counterparts?
Not in every run. A Void item’s effect can fit your needs better, but corruption changes what you already have: mobile healing may be preferable to a stationary healing zone, while an extra Special charge may not be worth what your equipment build loses. Player discussions ask whether Void items are flat-out better or worse, including Weeping Fungus versus Bustling Fungus and Lysate Cell versus Fuel Cell, but those comparisons reflect individual judgments rather than a representative consensus. One player discussion illustrates those questions; it does not settle them.
