When did Road to Vostok release?

What does the new trailer show?
The official Early Access trailer was published January 30, 2026. Its description says it features new gameplay footage and highlights features planned for launch, including new maps and dynamic events. What kind of game is Road to Vostok?
The developer describes Road to Vostok as a hardcore, single-player survival game in a post-apocalyptic border zone between Finland and Russia. Players loot, plan, and prepare to cross into Vostok, a permadeath zone. Steam also tags it as a realistic FPS, looter shooter, PvE game, and permadeath experience. These labels describe its genre and stakes; they do not mean it offers Escape from Tarkov’s multiplayer raids.

Survival systems and activities
Steam’s description lists realistic FPS mechanics, physics-based loot, hostile AI and factions, travel between maps, shelter customization, trading, tasks, day-and-night cycles, dynamic weather, events, and seasonal changes. These are features described by the developer, not independent findings about how they perform in play. See the Steam description.
How is it different from Escape from Tarkov?

How long will Road to Vostok stay in Early Access?
The developer estimated roughly two to four years in Early Access, while noting the duration depends on factors not yet determined. It also said the planned full version would contain approximately twice the content and features, including more maps, traders, tasks, weapons, and items. These are development estimates and plans, not guaranteed dates or a fixed final feature list. Developer’s Early Access disclosure on Steam.
In that disclosure, developer Antti explained the choice this way: “A game like Road to Vostok must be implemented in multiple phases, and to remain independent, Early Access is the most logical solution for achieving this goal.” The same Steam disclosure reports four demos, 15 demo updates, 35 devlog videos, 800,000 demo players, and 3,000 bug or feedback reports. These are developer-reported figures; the page does not specify a year for them, and they are not independently audited.

What should you check before buying?
- Early Access expectations: Steam says the game is incomplete and may change. It may not suit players who want a finished release.
- Single-player format: Buy it for a solo survival experience, not multiplayer Tarkov-style raids.
- Current price and system support: Check the Steam listing for current regional pricing, availability, and operating-system support. The launch FAQ’s prices and discount were time-limited historical terms, not today’s price.
The developer’s FAQ described Windows as the main launch operating system, planned native Linux support after launch, and console versions as a possible consideration after PC 1.0 and planned builds. Those statements describe plans, not confirmation of current platform availability. Official FAQ.

An August 27, 2026 developer SITREP said the Build 2 release date would be announced at the FPS Games Show on September 3. At the time of that update, the developer described Build 2 as close to completion, with map polish, AI-versus-AI tuning, task items, and playtesting still in progress. Planned content included an Airfield map, a Bridge crossing, the Driver trader, and the Bogeyman boss. The August update does not establish whether or when Build 2 was subsequently released, so check a later official announcement for its current status. Official Steam announcement archive.
