What did Roblox’s CEO say?
Ben Lovejoy’s 9to5Mac report published March 13, 2025 says Baszucki made the remark in an interview with the BBC. The wording quoted by 9to5Mac was: “My first message would be, if you’re not comfortable, don’t let your kids be on Roblox.”
His answer treated a parent’s comfort level as a reason to opt out. It was not a claim that Roblox was risk-free, nor a detailed account of how the platform’s protections work.
What concerns were being discussed?
The report situated Baszucki’s comment in discussion of children encountering explicit or otherwise harmful content. It also referred to reported allegations of bullying and grooming. Those were concerns described in the report, not evidence in that article of how common such experiences are or an independent assessment of Roblox’s current moderation.

The report said Roblox tries to detect and block harmful content. Baszucki’s quoted response nevertheless emphasized that parents should decide whether their children use the service. The article does not establish the effectiveness of those efforts or describe current safety settings.
Why did some parents find that answer difficult?
The report also included perspectives from parent-facing voices on the gap between making that choice and enforcing it. Mumsnet’s Justine Roberts said parents had described difficulty managing their children’s Roblox use, especially in households with multiple children where an adult cannot watch everything continuously.

Ellie Gibson of the Scummy Mummies podcast said the advice could sound like “a bit of a get out.” She also pointed to the difficulty of keeping a child away when their friends are playing. These were comments from the named speakers in the report, not survey results about parents generally.
Did Baszucki describe a benefit?
Yes. Baszucki said parents had told him their children found connection on Roblox during difficult periods. He presented that as part of a balance involving safety and civility, saying: “So it’s an amazing balance, really our responsibility on safety and civility.” This was his anecdotal account as reported by 9to5Mac, not a measured finding about children’s outcomes.

What can parents take from the statement?
The comment offers a clear answer to one narrow question: Baszucki said parents who are not comfortable should not let their children use Roblox. It does not settle whether a particular child should use the platform, and the March 2025 report does not provide enough information to assess current risks, safeguards, or how prevalent harmful experiences are. Parents weighing the choice need to consider their own child and household circumstances; this report alone cannot make that assessment for them.
