Roblox gets a 2X speed boost on Chromebooks and some exclusive swag through a native x86 ChromeOS build, but “2X” means up to twice as fast on supported x86 Chromebook devices—not a guarantee for every Chromebook, game, or player. The update also offered a Chrome jetpack and Bloxburg Chromebook Cruiser.
Google announced the Chromebook-focused Roblox performance update on February 26, 2025. The same announcement reported faster frame rates, shorter startup and loading times, and two digital rewards for Chromebook users.

Key takeaways
- Roblox’s Chromebook speed boost comes from a native x86 build created specifically for ChromeOS.
- Google reported performance of up to 2X faster on x86 Chromebook devices, but the result varies by hardware and Roblox experience.
- Google measured a 99% frame-rate increase in Adopt Me! and a 67% increase in Brookhaven RP on its tested x86 devices.
- The Chromebook rewards were digital items: a Chrome-themed avatar jetpack and the Chromebook Cruiser hoverboard in Bloxburg.
- The reported redemption route used the Chromebook perks page and the Roblox shop, but the promotion’s live availability is time-sensitive.
Is Roblox faster on Chromebook now?
Yes, Roblox gets a 2X speed boost on Chromebooks and some exclusive swag through a native x86 ChromeOS build, but “2X” means up to twice as fast on supported x86 Chromebook devices—not a guarantee for every Chromebook, game, or player. The improvement includes frame rate, startup time, loading, and stability.
Google ChromeOS announced the Roblox update on February 26, 2025, after working with Roblox on a Chromebook-focused performance release. The decisive change was a native x86 version of Roblox built specifically for Chromebooks. Google’s announcement describes the result as “up to 2x faster performance on x86 devices,” so the headline should be understood as an upper limit rather than a universal benchmark.

The update does not establish that every Chromebook model receives identical results, and the announcement does not say that readers must buy a new Chromebook. Processor architecture, available memory, thermals, ChromeOS software, and the demands of a particular Roblox experience can all affect the result.
Google’s official ChromeOS announcement reported the speed claim and the promotional rewards.
What performance improvements did Google report?
Google reported improvements in both frame rate and loading behavior on x86 Chromebook devices. The measurements came from Google’s announcement, not from an independent laboratory benchmark, and the named experiences should not be treated as a guarantee for every Roblox title.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →| Area measured | Google-reported result | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Adopt Me! frame rate | 99% increase | Nearly twice the measured frame rate in the tested scenario. |
| Brookhaven RP frame rate | 67% increase | A substantial improvement, but below a full doubling. |
| Roblox cold start | 29% decrease | Less time from launching Roblox to reaching the login page. |
| Roblox hot start | 69% decrease | Less time from launching Roblox to reaching the home page when relevant data is already available. |
| Adopt Me! loading | 54% decrease | The named experience loaded faster in Google’s measurement. |
| Brookhaven RP loading | 55% decrease | The named experience loaded faster in Google’s measurement. |
According to Google ChromeOS’s 2025 announcement, the 99%, 67%, 29%, 69%, 54%, and 55% figures were measured on x86 devices. A frame-rate increase is not the same as a guaranteed 2X reduction in lag, and faster loading does not automatically mean that network latency or server-side issues disappear.

A later Google ChromeOS technical case study published June 26, 2026, summarized the improvement as performance gains of up to 99% from releasing the native x86 ChromeOS build. The case study also reported a 75% increase in Roblox Chromebook daily active users from June 2024 to June 2025. That usage figure is Google-reported adoption data, not proof that every player experienced the same frame-rate improvement.
Why does the native x86 Roblox build run better?
The Roblox Chromebook speed boost is primarily an application and platform optimization, not the result of a generic PC-cleanup utility. Google’s technical explanation identifies several changes in the ChromeOS-specific build.
- Faster time to interactive: Roblox’s startup sequence and caching flags were optimized so the application could become usable sooner.
- Smarter rendering: Rendering and adaptive-rendering techniques were improved to match the workload to the device.
- Resource-aware quality: When CPU or memory resources are limited, the software can reduce field of view and graphics fidelity to preserve playability.
- Better entry-level stability: The work addressed out-of-memory crashes that could interrupt Roblox on lower-end hardware.
These changes explain why the benefit can appear as smoother play, quicker starts, shorter loading screens, or fewer crashes rather than as one identical “2X” result. The Google technical case study attributes the gains to the native build, startup and caching work, adaptive rendering, and stability improvements.

| Reward | Where it is used | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome-themed jetpack | Roblox avatar | An exclusive Chromebook-themed avatar item. |
| Chromebook Cruiser | Bloxburg | Unlocks a hoverboard for faster ground travel in Bloxburg. |
Google ChromeOS described the jetpack as an avatar item and the Chromebook Cruiser as a Bloxburg hoverboard. The rewards are separate from the performance improvements: receiving a promotional item does not itself make Roblox run faster.
How do I get the Roblox Chromebook jetpack and Chromebook Cruiser?
The reported redemption flow starts on the Chromebook perks page, followed by installing Roblox on a Chromebook if necessary and redeeming the promotional code through the Roblox shop.
- Open the official Chromebook perks page associated with the promotion.
- Install Roblox on the Chromebook if Roblox is not already installed.
- Follow the promotion’s instructions to obtain the applicable code or redemption action.
- Open the Roblox shop and redeem the code while signed in to the intended Roblox account.
- Check the avatar inventory for the Chrome jetpack and open Bloxburg to check whether the Chromebook Cruiser has been added or unlocked.
The Google Play editorial page describes this Chromebook redemption flow. Promotional pages, codes, eligibility rules, and expiration dates can change, so the live official perks page should be checked immediately before anyone presents the rewards as currently redeemable.
Does Roblox run better on an x86 Chromebook?
Roblox is the strongest candidate for the reported improvement when it is running on an x86 Chromebook that receives the native ChromeOS build. The evidence does not support promising the same result on every Chromebook or claiming that every Roblox experience will double in speed.

Readers can check their device’s processor architecture in ChromeOS settings or by looking up the exact Chromebook model’s specifications. Architecture alone is not a complete performance rating: two x86 Chromebooks can differ substantially in memory, cooling, display resolution, and processor capability.
| Reader situation | Reasonable expectation |
|---|---|
| x86 Chromebook with the native Roblox build | Eligible for the reported ChromeOS-focused performance improvements, with results varying by hardware and experience. |
| Entry-level Chromebook under heavy memory pressure | Potential benefits from adaptive rendering and fewer out-of-memory crashes, but not a guaranteed frame-rate target. |
| Non-x86 Chromebook or unsupported configuration | The cited announcement does not establish identical access or identical performance. |
| Roblox experience with network or server problems | A software performance update may not resolve latency, connection, or server-side issues. |
Should you buy a Chromebook for Roblox?
You should not buy a new Chromebook solely because of the “2X” headline unless the device also fits your broader needs and its specifications are suitable. The announcement confirms a native x86 build and Google-reported gains, but it does not identify one universally recommended Chromebook model or require a new purchase to claim the rewards.
If you are comparing Chromebooks for Roblox, prioritize x86 compatibility, adequate memory, ChromeOS support, a usable display, responsive keyboard and touchpad, battery life, and a price that fits your budget. A larger display or better input devices can improve comfort, but neither accessory creates the reported Roblox optimization. Independent model testing would be needed before claiming that a particular Chromebook delivers a specific frame rate.

The jetpack and Chromebook Cruiser described in the announcement are official promotional rewards associated with the Chromebook offer, but readers should be cautious with unofficial codes and third-party claims.
