Roblox Party chat is available to users aged 13 and older, according to Roblox Support. In the app, open the Party tab in the bottom navigation, select +, and choose friends. You can also manage group membership and control who can add you through Party settings.
How to open Party chat
From the Roblox app
- Open Roblox and select Party in the bottom navigation.
- Select + and choose the friends you want to chat with.
- To create a new group, select up to five friends, then choose Create.
While inside an experience
If you are already in a Party, open Party chat alongside the other communication controls. If you are not in a Party, open the hamburger menu in Experience Controls to find it. Roblox says the interface can vary across Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and VR. See Roblox Support’s Party chat instructions for current labels and platform details.
How to manage a Party group
- Rename it: Open the group, select its name, choose Not Set, enter a name, and save.
- Add friends: Open the group’s three-dot menu and choose the option to add friends.
- Leave on mobile: Open the group’s three-dot menu and select Leave Group.
- Report or remove a member: Use the group menu. Roblox advises reporting a user for rude, inappropriate, or rule-breaking behavior before removing them.
- Stop unwanted group invitations: Block someone who repeatedly adds you to groups you do not want to join.
Who can add you, and how many people can join?
Roblox Support describes separate limits for creating a group and for Party settings. Selecting up to five friends when creating a group is not the same as the membership limits set by Party and Group Party controls.

Use the Party and Group Party settings to decide who may include you. The documented defaults are Friends; setting Party to No one also changes the Group Party default to No one.

Is Party chat text-only, or does it support voice?
Roblox’s December 2024 announcement described Party chat as text-based at that time and said voice support was planned for the following months. The announcement also described Parties as groups that can move together between Roblox experiences. Read Roblox’s December 2024 Party announcement as a dated description, not confirmation of current feature availability.
On April 30, 2026, Roblox management said it planned to integrate Party chat into the in-game chat window and discussed a planned expansion for trusted friends that would include voice and avatar video when age and parental-consent conditions are met. Management did not provide a ship date. These statements describe plans, not proof that the features are currently available to every user. Check the live Roblox Support page for current access and controls; Roblox’s April 30, 2026 earnings-call transcript records the dated plans.
