Louisiana’s lawsuit accuses Roblox Corporation of failing to protect children and making misleading claims about its safety measures. Roblox’s August 15, 2025 response says it does not comment on pending litigation, denies intentionally putting users at risk, and describes safeguards the company says it has added. The allegations and the company’s account are positions by the parties—not court findings.
What Louisiana alleges
In a 2025 announcement, the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office said the State had sued Roblox Corporation in the 21st Judicial District Court for Livingston Parish. The complaint alleges that Roblox facilitated the distribution of child sexual abuse material and sexual exploitation, failed to implement basic protections, and did not adequately warn parents and children about risks. The State invokes Louisiana’s Unfair Trade Practices Act. Its requested remedies include a permanent injunction against alleged violations and representations that Roblox has adequate safety features, restitution, attorney fees, civil penalties, and damages. A request in a complaint is not a court order or an award.
An example cited in the complaint
The State’s filing describes a July 2025 Livingston Parish search warrant involving a suspect who, the complaint says, was using Roblox and voice-altering technology allegedly used to lure minors. That is the State’s account of an example; it is not a finding that Roblox caused the alleged conduct.

How Roblox responded
In its August 15, 2025 statement, Roblox said it does not comment on pending litigation and disputed that it had intentionally endangered users. The company said no system is perfect and that bad actors adapt to evade detection, including by trying to move users to other platforms. Roblox described parental controls, default settings for users under 13, content maturity labels, age estimation, reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and work with law-enforcement and child-safety groups. The company said it had introduced more than 40 safety features in the preceding year. These are Roblox’s descriptions of its own systems and activity, not independent verification that the measures prevent the conduct alleged by Louisiana.

Roblox’s reported NCMEC figure
Roblox said it submitted 24,522 reports to NCMEC in 2024, equivalent to 0.12% of the 20.3 million total reports the company says NCMEC received that year. This is a company-reported statistic. By itself, it does not measure safety across the platform or confirm or disprove the State’s allegations.

The public statements establish that Louisiana announced a lawsuit and described the claims and remedies it sought, while Roblox issued a response and outlined safeguards it says it uses. They do not establish that a court accepted either side’s account. The sources available here do not establish whether the court has ruled, whether the matter has settled, or the case’s current docket status.
