If Roblox won’t let your character move, first check whether it happens in one experience or in several. That distinction helps separate a problem with a particular experience from an input, app, device, or connection issue. Try the affected experience’s reset if available, then check your controls and follow the relevant device troubleshooting steps.
Check whether movement fails in one experience or everywhere
Join a different Roblox experience and try moving there. Roblox Support asks players reporting glitches to say whether the issue happens “in one place or in all places,” because the scope is useful when describing a problem: How to Report Bugs.
- Only one experience: If movement works elsewhere, the issue may be specific to that experience, its settings, or its scripts. This comparison narrows the possibilities but does not prove the cause. If it persists, report it to the experience’s developer.
- Several experiences: Check your input method and app or device, then see whether Roblox is reporting a service issue.
Try the experience’s reset, if it offers one
Open the in-experience menu or controls and look for Respawn or Reset Character. Roblox lists “Respawn (Also Known As: Reset Character)” among experience controls, but controls depend on what the individual experience enables: Experience Controls. If the option is absent, skip this step; not every experience exposes it.
Check whether your input is reaching Roblox
These are basic checks, not a Roblox-prescribed desktop repair procedure. Test the same input in another experience and, where practical, outside the affected experience to see whether the problem follows the input or stays with one game.

- Keyboard or controller: Confirm the Roblox window is active and that the movement keys or controller inputs are registering. If you can, try another supported input method.
- Touchscreen: Check whether the on-screen movement controls appear and respond to touch. Rejoin the experience to see whether the controls return.
For mobile, check requirements and troubleshoot the app
Roblox’s published mobile requirements list iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 and later, Android 8.0 or later with OpenGL ES 3.0, and supported Fire tablets. The page also lists a minimum internet connection of 4–8 Mb/s and notes that some devices meeting the requirements may not run optimally: Mobile System Requirements. Meeting a minimum requirement does not guarantee smooth play in every experience.

- Force-close Roblox, then reopen it.
- Restart your device.
- Reinstall Roblox if the issue continues.
- Check that your device’s date and time are correct.
- If the problem remains, contact Roblox Support with your username, device model, operating-system version, what happens, steps to reproduce it, and any relevant recent changes. See General Website Issues.
Android
Roblox’s Android troubleshooting guidance includes reopening the app, restarting the device, reinstalling the app, clearing app data, and checking the date and time. Follow the current instructions in General Android Issues; clearing app data can remove locally stored app information.
