What happened at Rockstar North?
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted at 5:02 a.m. on Monday, January 19, to an incident at Rockstar North’s Holyrood Road premises in Edinburgh. Operations Control mobilized three fire appliances and specialist resources. Firefighters worked to secure structural damage at the commercial building, and crews left at 9:21 a.m. No casualties were reported. STV News reported the service’s account of the response.
What caused the incident?
Rockstar Games attributed the incident to a malfunction in one of Rockstar North’s heating boilers, according to STV News. That is the company’s explanation; the report does not include an independent technical investigation or identify the boiler’s manufacturer, model, or failed component.
Is Rockstar North open and operational?
Yes. In a statement reported by STV News on January 19, Rockstar said: “Many thanks to those that reached out with concern, and also to the police and fire crews who were on scene quickly to assess the situation – please know that everyone is well and our studio remains open and operational.” This describes the studio’s status at the time of the statement.

Did the incident affect GTA 6 development?
