In Monster Hunter: World, the Rocksteady Mantle is an endgame specialized tool that helps you keep attacking through certain interruptions. It protects against wind pressure, roars and tremors, and reduces damage—but it does not make you immune to attacks. This guide covers the World mantle; Monster Hunter Wilds has a separate Rocksteady Mantle and unlock path.
What the Rocksteady Mantle does in Monster Hunter: World
While active, the mantle suppresses certain damage reactions and provides protection from wind, monster roars and tremors. It also lessens damage. In practical terms, that can let you continue an attack instead of being interrupted by one of those effects. The protection is not invulnerability: attacks can still hurt you, so watch your health and be cautious around moves that hit repeatedly. Fextralife’s item listing describes its effects.
Duration and recharge
Monster Hunter: World item databases list a 90-second effect duration and a 360-second recharge time. These are in-game item values reported by Kiranico; the mantle is not continuously available after its effect ends.
How to unlock the Rocksteady Mantle in Monster Hunter: World
The unlock is part of endgame progression and involves tempered elder-dragon hunts and an optional quest. Published guides do not agree on the precise quest name and sequence, so use the quest log and smithy dialogue in your own save as the final check rather than treating one guide’s order as universal.

These accounts establish an endgame route, but their differing labels and details do not support a single guaranteed step-by-step sequence for every version or progression state. Check which optional quests are available in your game and follow the relevant quest prompts.

Monster Hunter Wilds also has a Rocksteady Mantle, but its unlock is separate. A Wilds guide places it after “Black Flame: Long-forgotten Flame,” following earlier story progression involving Werner and “A Disquieting Dawn.” Those instructions do not unlock the World item. IGN’s Wilds guide covers that game’s route.
