Later, keep Rosa safe during Dancing with the Devil, then carry her across the flooded passage and choose to kiss her during Oratores. The book and writing scene are early, missable route gates; the rescue and kiss complete the later arc.
Start Rosa’s Book during Taking French Leave
Speak with Rosa at Ruthard Palace during Taking French Leave, while preparing to go to Maleshov to rescue Hans. Agree to retrieve her book. The quest involves getting the book, reporting back about the visit to Maleshov, and helping Rosa finish her writing. PowerPyx’s Rosa’s Book walkthrough and PC Gamer’s romance guide both place the book pickup during this main quest.
Find the book before leaving Maleshov
During the Maleshov infiltration, search Lady Ofka’s room. The red volume, titled A book of humorous anecdotes, is by the window. Pick it up before exiting the fortress: PowerPyx says the objective fails if you leave without it.
Once Taking French Leave is complete, return to Rosa and give her the book. Do not rely on being able to return the item later as a way to preserve the romance. KCD2.org’s Rosa guide warns that delaying can make the writing scene or romance unavailable even if the book can still be returned.

Finish the writing scene and show interest
Agree to help Rosa complete the book, follow the writing dialogue, and examine the finished pages. Then speak to Rosa again and choose the positive responses that are available. Dialogue wording may vary; guides document different creative-story answers, so no single set of story choices should be treated as the only valid route.
One documented dialogue example
PowerPyx’s walkthrough gives this example for the creative portion: “A woman” > “She should be clever” > “Dumb girls are boring” > “Are you always so confrontational?” > “Good intent.” After browsing the finished book, its example continues with “If only there were more such books,” “It’s pretty, really,” and “I’d like to get to know you better sometime.”

KCD2.org’s September 10, 2026 guide lists another creative-story variant: “A woman,” “Make her courageous,” “She’s standing before me!,” and “For someone else. That’s more meritorious.” It says alternative story answers do not automatically fail the task or romance. The practical priorities are to complete the collaboration, avoid insulting Rosa’s work, and express interest in her.
Completing Rosa’s book task also unlocks the Tales of Kuttenberg trophy or achievement, according to PowerPyx. KCD2.org says Rosa can train Henry in Scholarship and Marksmanship but does not join the party.

Keep Rosa safe in Dancing with the Devil
Rosa is held in the Maleshov tower during Dancing with the Devil. Do not agree to burn the tower while she is inside. Negotiate, refuse to put her in danger, then enter the tower and defeat Bergow’s men.
PowerPyx recommends “Let’s make a deal,” followed by any available skill check, then “I refuse to put Rosa in danger!” A failed skill check does not prevent the rescue branch, according to that guide. The decisive point is refusing to sacrifice Rosa, not passing the check.

Complete the romance scene in Oratores
During Oratores, carry Rosa across the flooded passage rather than dropping her into the water. At Ruthard Palace, clear the looters or bandits, then speak with her. KCD2.org recommends the sequence “It’ll all be alright,” “Allies are our most valuable asset,” “I won’t let you go away!,” followed by “Kiss Rosa.” PowerPyx reports the same progression, with a minor spelling variation in the first line.
The kiss is an explicit choice. If Henry is dirty, PowerPyx advises washing at the courtyard trough before speaking with Rosa. If the kiss option does not appear, the guides identify the missed writing scene, insufficient reputation, or the tower decision as likely causes.

What happens after the romance, and can it coexist with other routes?
KCD2.org describes Rosa’s later farewell in Civitas Pragensis as having a different tone if the romance was completed, but does not describe a wedding or permanent post-game partnership. Its guide also says Rosa does not become a combat companion or provide combat bonuses.
The Rosa route can be completed alongside Katherine’s or Hans Capon’s route, according to KCD2.org and PC Gamer. Those guides identify the late mutually exclusive choice as Katherine versus Hans, rather than Rosa versus either one. This is guide-reported route information, not a developer statement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the KCD2 Rosa book missable?
Yes. During Taking French Leave, pick up A book of humorous anecdotes in Lady Ofka’s room at Maleshov before leaving the fortress. Leaving without it fails the objective.
Can I return the KCD2 Rosa book later?
You may be able to return the item later, but that does not guarantee the writing scene or romance will remain available. Return it after Taking French Leave and complete the writing scene promptly.
