That milestone meant every game in the project’s tracked set could at least boot and display an image—not that every title could be completed or ran well. To check a particular release, look up its exact entry in the current RPCS3 compatibility list.
What “boot every game” means
The December 25, 2022 announcement described the milestone as having no PS3 games left that booted to a black screen: each tracked game at least started and showed image output. The announcement is reproduced in a Reddit post; it is a historical milestone, not a claim that RPCS3 newly achieved this in 2026.

Booting is a low threshold. Seeing an image does not establish that a game reaches playable content, runs at a usable speed, avoids serious glitches, or can be finished. The milestone answers whether a title can get beyond a black screen in the tracked set—not whether it works as a substitute for playing on original hardware.
How RPCS3 compatibility statuses differ
RPCS3 tracks five compatibility statuses. The key distinction is between starting a game and completing it reliably:

- When starting up the system for the first time, hold the power button until a "screen display" message shows up on screen. Select the desired output, and the system will startup normally.

| Playable | The game can be completed with playable performance and no game-breaking glitches, according to the project’s definition. |
| Ingame | The game gets beyond its introductory stage, but is not classified as Playable. |
| Intro | The game reaches an introductory stage but does not meet the Ingame or Playable threshold. |
| Loadable | The game loads and produces image output, but does not meet the higher categories. |
| Nothing | The game has not reached the Loadable threshold. |
The official RPCS3 compatibility wiki explains the status system and reports monthly counts. A zero in Loadable is therefore not a zero in the other categories, nor a count of games that can be completed.
Why one game’s report may not apply to your copy
RPCS3 organizes compatibility reports by game ID and media. A disc release and a digital release of the same title can have separate entries, and region or version differences may also matter where listed. Search for the particular release you own instead of assuming that a report for another edition applies.

Statuses and reports can change as RPCS3 develops. The live compatibility database is the place to check a title’s current entry. The available evidence does not establish a current October 8, 2026 total or percentage of games rated Playable, so the 2022 milestone should not be used to infer one.

- Find the exact release: Search the compatibility list by game title or ID, and confirm the media and version or region where those details are shown.
- Read the status and reports: Distinguish Loadable from Playable, then review game-specific notes for performance problems or glitches.
- Compare the setup details: The operating system, hardware, and renderer can affect results. Consult the RPCS3 Quickstart for current requirements and the project’s support guidance if troubleshooting.
RPCS3 identifies itself as a PS3 emulator and debugger in its official project repository. Its broad boot milestone does not guarantee the same experience across games or computer configurations; the individual entry and setup requirements are more useful for that decision.
