It lies southwest of Moorth Ruins. There is no boss encounter inside; the main reward is the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword, found at the forge altar alongside an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
Where to find Ruined Forge of Starfall Past
Travel southwest from Moorth Ruins in Scadu Altus. The entrance is at the back of the ruined structure: look for a hole and climb down the ladder. Another route description places the approach along Moorth Highway, heading south before turning west. Game8’s walkthrough and Eldenpedia’s location entry describe the area and approach.
How to reach the forge altar
- Cross the bridge near the entrance and use the lever to open the lower gate.
- Continue through the room with a Golem Smith and a lava enemy, then climb the ladder to the upper section.
- Explore the rubble and adjoining rooms for optional loot. Use the second lever when you reach it to open another gate.
- Return to the lever and use the rising gate to reach the upper platform. From there, follow the path to the forge altar.
Keep the lever and gate positions in mind as you move between levels: the raised gate is the route to the upper altar path, not a cue to drop down the waterfall route. Game8’s July 18, 2024 walkthrough details this mechanism and route: Ruined Forge of Starfall Past walkthrough.
Loot and optional exploration
The altar contains the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Other notable items listed for the dungeon include the Smithing Talisman, Smithscript Cirque, and Smithscript Spear. The walkthroughs identify these rewards but do not provide a standardized completion time or difficulty rating.

If your priority is the greatsword, follow the lever-and-gate route to the altar. For the secondary equipment and talisman, check the optional rooms and ledges along the way rather than heading straight for the upper platform. The listed loot is also covered by EIP Gaming’s guide, published July 1, 2024 and updated July 26, 2024.
Is there a boss?
No. Game8’s walkthrough reports that Ruined Forge of Starfall Past has no boss encounter inside. You will encounter enemies in the dungeon, including Golem Smiths and a Molten Tear, but the route’s objective is reaching the altar rather than defeating a boss.
