A report by iXBT Games says Windows Central journalist Jez Corden discussed an industry rumor that an Xbox employee who disliked anime-style games may have influenced the rejection of some titles. The allegation is unverified: neither a platform-wide policy nor the employee’s motive has been established.
What the rumor alleges
In a report published October 11, 2026, iXBT Games attributed the discussion to Corden speaking on the Xbox Two podcast. The report says he described community suspicions that Xbox had rejected some anime-style games, particularly dating simulations. That is an account of attributed remarks, not independent confirmation that Microsoft or Xbox maintained a policy of blocking anime games.

As quoted by iXBT Games, Corden said: “I’ve heard about this, but I treat the information with caution, as it’s just an industry rumor.” The podcast recording or transcript was not independently checked, so this wording is a quotation as reproduced by iXBT Games, not a directly verified transcript.

Gal Gun and later approvals
iXBT Games names Gal Gun as an example in the discussion and reports that some projects previously rejected later received approval after a leadership change. The reported sequence does not show that one employee caused the earlier decisions or that the change in leadership caused later approvals.

No verified count, duration, or identity
The report supplies no verified number of affected games and no independently established duration for the alleged practice. It does not identify the employee or confirm that personal dislike of anime-style games was the motive. The title’s suggestion that this happened “for years” is therefore not substantiated by the available account.
What remains unconfirmed
- Whether Xbox had a policy or consistent practice of rejecting anime-style games.
- Whether an individual employee influenced any particular rejection.
- Whether personal dislike was the reason for any decision.
- How many games were affected, or for how long.
- Why any previously rejected projects were later approved.
No Microsoft or Xbox response to this specific allegation is established in the report. That absence does not show that the company declined to comment.

How to read the claim
The careful description is that Corden reportedly discussed a rumor about possible influence over some game rejections, with Gal Gun mentioned as an example. It is not established that Microsoft blocked anime games as a category, that one employee was responsible, or that personal dislike explains the decisions.
