RuneScape and Old School RuneScape membership prices increased in 2026. New subscriptions moved to the updated rates on 10 March; existing one- and twelve-month subscriptions began switching at renewal from 9 April. In the U.S., the published price is now $14.99 for one month or $131.88 for twelve months. Your actual price depends on your currency, account and payment route.
How much is RuneScape membership now?
Jagex’s 10 March 2026 announcement lists these prices for five currencies. The twelve-month monthly equivalent is the displayed rate; the plan is billed as the stated annual total.
| Currency | One month | Twelve months | One Bond |
|---|---|---|---|
| USD | $14.99 | $131.88 ($10.99/month displayed) | $9.99 |
| GBP | £10.99 | £95.88 (£7.99/month displayed) | £7.49 |
| EUR | €13.49 | €119.88 (€9.99/month displayed) | €8.99 |
| AUD | A$20.99 | A$185.88 (A$15.49/month displayed) | A$13.99 |
| CAD | C$18.99 | C$167.88 (C$13.99/month displayed) | C$12.49 |
At the announced U.S. rates, twelve monthly payments would total $179.88, which is $48 more than paying $131.88 for a year. PC Gamer calculated that difference as a 26.7% saving against twelve monthly payments; that percentage is its arithmetic based on Jagex’s U.S. prices, not a Jagex-published statistic. The annual plan’s relative value elsewhere depends on local prices and the options available to your account.
These are the five rates Jagex published, not a universal quote. Local prices can vary with currency fluctuations, taxes, payment-processing fees and market conditions. Jagex’s terms say non-U.S. prices generally include applicable sales taxes unless stated otherwise. If you subscribe through Apple, Google or Steam, that platform handles billing under its own terms. Check the amount and billing provider shown for your account before buying or changing plans. Jagex’s price announcement and subscription terms provide the published details.

When does the higher price apply?
Jagex offered new subscription agreements at the updated rates from 10 March 2026. Existing one-month and twelve-month subscribers began moving to the new price at renewal from 9 April 2026. The change does not alter a period you have already paid for; the new fee applies when that subscription renews. Recurring subscriptions renew at the then-current renewal price unless cancelled.
Jagex says it posts price changes at least 30 days before they take effect and notifies subscribers before renewal. For the timing and cancellation details, see the subscription terms and announcement FAQ. Jagex advises cancelling at least three days before renewal to avoid a charge; its terms also note that cancelling close to expiry may not prevent a near-term charge. The date and amount to check are the ones shown in your account and billing platform.

Can you keep a grandfathered monthly rate?
Some players can keep their old rate, but eligibility depends on an unbroken recurring monthly subscription. Jagex defines the protected group around monthly memberships activated and maintained before 27 September 2024, including a stated 14-day grace period. Under the updated terms, an eligible account must keep an active recurring monthly membership to preserve that rate. Cancelling from 9 April 2026 ends the protection, subject to Jagex’s stated grace arrangements for billing failures.
Switching from a grandfathered monthly subscription to a twelve-month plan means you cannot later return to the inactive grandfathered monthly rate. Jagex gives separate instructions for players who pay with Bonds or use non-recurring payment methods, so check its FAQ before changing how you pay.

What happened to six-month subscriptions?
Jagex stopped selling the six-month package on 10 March 2026. Existing six-month subscribers continue on a rolling six-month subscription until they change or cancel. Jagex says existing three- and six-month subscribers keep their price and billing cadence unless they cancel. The change therefore did not end every legacy plan.
Can you still pay for membership with Bonds?
Yes. One Bond, whether purchased or obtained through gameplay, can still be redeemed for 14 days of membership. Jagex lists the single-Bond prices in the table above and announced bundle prices for three, five, ten and twenty Bonds. Bonds are virtual in-game items, not physical membership cards or retail products. See Jagex’s announcement for bundle rates and its Bond information for how redemption works.

Does one membership cover both RuneScape games?
Membership attaches to a character, and Jagex’s terms say that character can use membership in both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. It does not mean one subscription covers multiple characters. Review the subscription terms for the account rules.
Why did Jagex raise the price?
Jagex says the change is intended to support ongoing investment across both games, including infrastructure, upgraded systems, new content and player-support improvements, as part of a goal of long-term sustainability. The company described its aim as delivering “a model that better supports the ongoing investment we are making across both games.” That is Jagex’s explanation of the increase, not an independently verified accounting of how revenue is spent or a guarantee that a particular feature will arrive. Jagex’s 10 March 2026 announcement gives its full rationale.
