PC Gamer’s October 1, 2026 US price snapshot listed the card at $549.99 at Best Buy and $569.99 at Amazon. Check the exact listing before buying, then weigh the price against the RX 9070, RX 9070 XT, RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
Is the RX 9070 GRE worth it at MSRP?
At roughly $549, the RX 9070 GRE is worth considering if your priority is strong conventional, or raster, gaming performance at 1080p and 1440p. Tom’s Hardware reported averages of 120 FPS at 1080p and 86.6 FPS at 1440p across its 11-game raster-only test suite. Those are results from that outlet’s test conditions, not a promise for every game or PC.
The case is less straightforward if you rely on ray tracing, want to play demanding games at 1440p or higher with high settings, or expect a graphics card to remain comfortable as memory demands rise. The GRE has 12GB of VRAM, and Tom’s Hardware warns that capacity can constrain some ray-traced workloads at 1440p and above. Its value therefore depends on both the workload and what faster or higher-memory alternatives cost when you shop.
What does “at MSRP” mean for this card?
PC Gamer’s price-watch entry gives the RX 9070 GRE a $549 MSRP reference. Its page update dated October 1, 2026, listed US prices of $549.99 at Best Buy and $569.99 at Amazon, as accessed October 7. These are dated listings, not confirmation of current stock or a live offer at publication time. A separate Tom’s Hardware report published September 15 described a Newegg promotional-code offer for a Gigabyte card at $499.99, reduced from $569.99; that was a historical promotion, not an ongoing price.

Before treating any listing as a deal, confirm the exact board model, seller, condition, stock, shipping cost and whether a code or account is required. The MSRP is a useful reference point, not proof that a particular listing is a bargain. Prices also vary by region, so compare offers in your own market.
What are you getting in the RX 9070 GRE?
The GRE is a desktop Radeon RX 9000-series graphics card built on RDNA 4. ASRock’s announced board configuration specifies up to 48 compute units and 12GB of GDDR6. Tom’s Hardware lists a 192-bit memory interface, 432 GB/s of memory bandwidth and 220W board power for the GRE.

- Memory Size: 12 GB
- Memory Interface: 192-bit GDDR6
- Output: 2 x HDMI, 2 x DisplayPort
Those are general card specifications. Board-partner versions can differ in cooler design, factory clock, dimensions and power connectors, so inspect the exact model’s listing and requirements before purchase.
How does it compare with other cards?
| Card | Compute units | Memory | What to compare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radeon RX 9070 GRE | 48 | 12GB GDDR6, 192-bit bus | Its street price and performance for your resolution and workload. |
| Radeon RX 9070 | 56 | 16GB | Whether the extra compute units and memory justify its price premium. |
| Radeon RX 9070 XT | 64 | 16GB | Whether its higher specification is available for a price you consider worthwhile. |
| Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 | Not stated in the cited comparison | Not stated in the cited comparison | Tom’s Hardware’s results chart places it ahead of the GRE; compare current local prices and the games you play. |
| Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB | Not stated in the cited comparison | 16GB model | Check its current price and whether the extra memory matters for your games. |
Tom’s Hardware identifies the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT as 56- and 64-compute-unit cards, respectively, with 16GB each. The GRE’s lower compute-unit count and 12GB capacity are the main specification trade-offs. There is no useful universal winner based on model names alone: compare current street prices and the games, resolution and graphics settings you actually use.

How much performance should you expect?
Independent testing from Tom’s Hardware supports the GRE as a capable raster card for high-refresh-rate 1080p and 1440p play. Its 11-game suite averaged 120 FPS at 1080p and 86.6 FPS at 1440p. Individual results vary with the game, settings, system and test method, and the averages do not describe ray-tracing performance.
AMD separately publishes 1440p Ultra figures of 100 FPS in Arc Raiders, 115 FPS in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and 86 FPS in Horizon Forbidden West. These are vendor-published game figures, not independent review results, and should not be treated as directly comparable to Tom’s Hardware’s suite averages.

Is 12GB of VRAM enough for 1440p gaming?
It can be enough for many 1440p raster workloads, but it is not a blanket guarantee for every game at every setting. The clearest caution in the cited review is demanding ray tracing at 1440p and above, where Tom’s Hardware says the GRE’s VRAM can hamper performance. If ray tracing or higher-resolution play is a priority, compare the card with 16GB alternatives and consider the price difference before deciding.
What software features does the GRE support?
AMD says FSR 4 is exclusive to RX 9000-series graphics cards and can upgrade supported FSR 3.1 games. That is series-level feature information; it does not establish how a particular game will look or perform. Check whether the games you play support the feature and assess the result you want rather than assuming the feature removes the card’s hardware or memory trade-offs.
Quick Recap
How to decide whether a listing is a real deal
- Confirm the live price. Treat the $549 MSRP as a benchmark. Retail prices cited above are dated snapshots, and the reported $499.99 Newegg offer required a promotional code and was reported as a past promotion.
- Check the exact SKU and terms. Verify seller, condition, stock, shipping, required codes and the board’s dimensions and power connectors.
- Compare alternatives at their current prices. Check the RX 9070, RX 9070 XT, RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB in the same region and at the same time.
- Match the card to your games. The GRE’s strongest case is raster gaming at 1080p or 1440p; demanding ray tracing and higher resolutions make its 12GB capacity more relevant.
