The UGREEN NASync DXP4800 Plus is a four-bay NAS for building a home media and app server. PC Gamer reported it at $583.99 on Amazon on October 6, 2026, down from $729.99—a $146 reduction—but that offer has not been independently verified as still available. Check Amazon for the current price before buying.

What the DXP4800 Plus offers

PC Gamer’s October 6, 2026 article lists the DXP4800 Plus with an Intel Pentium Gold 8505 processor, UGOS Pro, 8 GB of SO-DIMM DDR5 memory, four HDD bays and two NVMe slots. The four bays provide room for a multi-drive storage setup, while the NVMe slots add a separate storage option. The machine is sold without HDDs, so the drives are an additional purchase.

Budget for NAS hard drives

Plan for the cost of storage as well as the NAS itself. The PC Gamer article cited a Seagate IronWolf 4 TB HDD at approximately $190 at the time of publication; that figure is dated and should not be treated as a current price.

For a NAS, look for drives rated for NAS use and verify that they use CMR recording. A NAS label alone is not enough: the article warns that some drives marketed for NAS use use SMR instead. Compare the actual drive specifications before ordering.

Those are examples from his personal account, not guaranteed results or a general performance assessment of every setup.

For a video-game household, a NAS can be useful as shared storage for personal media and files, but this article does not establish it as a replacement for a game console’s built-in storage or a tested way to improve game performance. Decide first what you want to host, then check whether the Plus’s listed hardware and the drives you plan to install suit that use.
