Rya is usually not missing permanently: she changes locations as her quest advances. Check Liurnia for the first meeting, Altus Plateau after returning her necklace, or Volcano Manor once you have joined it. Your dialogue, invitation, Manor contracts, and whether you have defeated Rykard determine which step is still available.
Find Rya at the location for your quest stage

If Rya is missing in Liurnia
Look for a pavilion north of Laskyar Ruins. Speak to Rya and exhaust her dialogue. She asks you to retrieve her necklace from Blackguard Big Boggart at Boilprawn Shack; return it to her to receive the Volcano Manor Invitation. The necklace exchange is the key progression check, not a respawn trick. Fextralife; Boggart’s quest reference
If you have already returned the necklace or received the invitation, move on to the Altus Plateau checks rather than continuing to search her original Liurnia spot.
If Rya is missing in Altus Plateau
After the necklace exchange, check near the top of the Grand Lift of Dectus and at Lux Ruins. Community-maintained quest information reports route-related variation in which location she uses. If neither spot has her, that same path suggests riding the lift again as a possible troubleshooting lead, not a guaranteed fix. It also reports that reaching Leyndell through Fia’s questline can bypass an expected appearance. These edge cases are community-reported rather than official confirmation. Before assuming the quest is stuck, verify that you actually returned Rya’s Necklace and received the invitation. The invitation marks the transition from the Liurnia exchange to her Altus and Manor appearances.
If Rya is missing inside Volcano Manor
First confirm that you joined Volcano Manor and spoke with Rya in the drawing room. Her position changes as you advance dialogue and the Manor’s objectives; later, she appears in a room across the corridor, and her quest proceeds through the Prison Town area and Serpent’s Amnion. Guides also describe a later route to an area above the Temple of Eiglay. Compare your dialogue and quest-item state with the step sequence rather than repeatedly checking only the drawing room. If you defeated Rykard before finishing Rya’s quest
Fextralife’s quest reference says defeating Rykard locks unfinished Rya quest steps. If that has happened, the earlier steps are no longer available in that playthrough; there is no confirmed reset or reload method that restores them. Fextralife
If you entered Volcano Manor before meeting Rya
The Blackguard Big Boggart reference warns that entering Volcano Manor before speaking with Rya can make Boggart’s quest and wares inaccessible. That warning does not establish that every later interaction with Rya is always lost, so check her current quest-stage locations and dialogue before concluding that her entire quest has failed. Is Rya not appearing because of a bug?
The available quest references and guides do not establish a version-specific or platform-specific bug, and they do not confirm a universal fix such as resting, reloading, or changing platforms. Treat her location as a progression question first: check the right area for your stage, confirm the relevant dialogue or item handoff, and account for whether Rykard is already defeated.
