Replace %username% with your Windows account name if you enter the path manually. The announcement says backups are retained for four days. It does not document a manual restore procedure or advise whether files should be copied while the game is running, so avoid treating the folder path alone as recovery instructions.
Does the backup feature work on Xbox or PlayStation?
No console backup feature is established by these patch notes. GSC explicitly labels the automatic backup-save addition “For PC only”; the Windows folder above is not a console save location. The announcement does not describe a console-specific way to recover a save.

What to expect from the crash fixes
- Shader compilation: Some issues that caused compilation to hang, potentially leading to an infinite wait or a crash, were addressed.
- Loading saves: Some save-loading issues were fixed.
- Exiting the game: The notes list a fix for a crash during exit.
GSC’s wording is limited to the listed issues. If a crash continues after the update, the patch announcement does not establish that it has the same cause as one of these fixes.
