S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s Patch 1.1 was a major maintenance update, not a content expansion. GSC Game World said it included over 1,800 fixes and adjustments, with its first iteration of A-Life fixes alongside changes to combat, missions, performance, stability, and presentation. It is a historical update, not a statement of the game’s current version.
The details below summarize GSC Game World’s official Patch 1.1 notes, published March 10, 2025. The totals are the publisher’s descriptions, not independently audited counts.

What changed in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Patch 1.1?
Patch 1.1 targeted bugs and system behavior across the game rather than adding a new story chapter or other expansion content. Its largest player-facing areas were A-Life and NPC behavior, combat and balance, performance and crashes, mission progression, and cutscene presentation.
Patch 1.1 A-Life and NPC changes
GSC described the A-Life work as the system’s first iteration of fixes. The changes were intended to make the world’s NPC activity feel less constrained and improve how characters move and interact:
#1 Best Overall
- Fixed NPCs spawning behind the player, made roaming NPC encounters more frequent, and extended the distance at which A-Life NPCs are visible.
- NPCs in the “Offline” state continue moving toward their goals rather than simply stopping their progress.
- Improved GameGraph navigation and transitions between “Online” and “Offline” states.
- Adjusted faction and group diversity, communication behavior, and NPC motivation to expand territory or attack enemies and mutants.
AI, combat, and balance adjustments
The update addressed specific enemy behaviors and selected balance issues; these examples should not be read as a blanket difficulty rebalance.
- Pseudodogs summon fewer phantom copies, with more time between summons.
- Corrected mutant use of cover and NPC behavior involving crouch detection, doors, pathfinding, and combat.
- Increased the Snork ability cooldown and raised Gauss rifle damage.
- Adjusted some mission rewards, made the Korshunov fight more difficult, and fixed artifact effects and coupon-related exploits.
Performance, crashes, and controls
GSC reported performance improvements in heavily populated areas and fixes for frame-rate drops associated with water particles and corpse interactions in shallow water. It also listed a fix for FPS drops on NVIDIA RTX 3000 cards when FSR frame generation was enabled. These are patch-note claims, not a guarantee that every player will see better performance on their hardware.
The publisher said it investigated and applied fixes for over 200 crashes. The listed crash categories included EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, Fatal Error, Low Level Fatal Error, and Assertion Failure. Other work included controller dead-zone and curve adjustments, input improvements, fixes for DLSS-related UI artifacts, and support fixes for named controller models.
Mission progression and cutscene fixes
The official notes report over 250 fixes to main-mission bugs and blockers. Examples include softlocks, missing NPCs, unavailable dialogue, and problems in several missions, including On the Edge, Visions of Truth, The Last Wish, Wishful Thinking, and There and Back Again. The notes also cover side-mission issues. These are high-level examples; the patch notes contain mission-specific detail that may reveal story beats.
GSC also reported addressing over 80 cutscene issues. The fixes covered facial animation, voiceover, missing frames or NPCs, subtitles, haptics, and cutscenes that did not start or play correctly.
World, equipment, interface, and save fixes
The rest of the update covered a broad set of systems, including open-world encounters, anomalies and artifacts, weather transitions, corpses and physics, armor protection and upgrades, weapon animations, tutorials, the PDA and upgrade menus, achievements, localization and voiceover, and audio. The notes also cite over 500 fixes for foliage, texture flickering, navigation meshes, collisions, object placement, contextual actions, visual effects, and related issues.
Save-related fixes included loading existing saves in certain shutdown scenarios and addressing save files missing after a hard reboot on PC or Xbox. These fixes address the cases described in the notes; they do not establish that every save issue was resolved.
Should you use Patch 1.1 notes for your current version?
Use these notes to understand what changed in 1.1, but check your installed build and platform-specific patch history before applying them to a current issue. GSC’s support article links to later updates, including Patch 1.7.1 and Update 2.0, so Patch 1.1 should not be treated as the latest release. The article does not state which version players should install today.
