GSC Game World released Patch 1.2 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on March 10, 2025, describing it as containing “Over 1700 fixes and improvements to all aspects of the game!” That is the developer’s headline figure—not an independently audited count of distinct bugs. The notes show a wide-ranging update to quests, AI, performance, locations, controls, and presentation. Patch 1.2 is a historical milestone, not the game’s current update state: GSC later announced Update 2.0.
What does “over 1,700 fixes” mean?
GSC’s March 10, 2025 Patch 1.2 announcement uses the phrase “Over 1700 fixes and improvements to all aspects of the game!” The wording combines fixes and improvements. It should not be read as a verified count of 1,700 separate bugs: the announcement does not describe an independent audit or a uniform counting method.

The notes also give figures for some categories, but those figures should not be added together to create a new total. The categories may overlap, and GSC does not establish that every section uses the same counting basis.
What did Patch 1.2 change?
NPC behavior, combat, and balance
The patch addressed several parts of combat and AI behavior. The notes describe improvements to A-Life NPC corpse looting and weapon selection, NPC accuracy and bullet dispersion, stealth recognition, and mutant combat behavior. GSC also listed fixes for AI spawning and pathing problems.

Balance adjustments covered artifact effects, pistols and silencers, NPC armor distribution, and radiation damage. The notes also say the odds of encountering high-tier weapons early in the game were reduced.
Performance, crashes, and technical issues
GSC listed fixes for frame-rate drops during the Faust boss fight and when closing the PDA or pause menu, as well as an item-manipulation memory leak. The notes say the update fixed over 100 exception-access-violation crashes and other errors.

Other technical changes addressed input lag with a particular VSync and FidelityFX Frame Interpolation configuration, and a frame-rate lock affecting menus and loading screens. These are fixes recorded in the patch notes, not a guarantee of performance on every PC or console configuration.
Main story, side missions, and progression
GSC reported that Patch 1.2 addressed over 300 issues in main-story quests. Examples in the notes include characters who were missing or stuck, objectives that would not progress, softlocks, incorrect dialogue or faction behavior, and mission-specific combat or progression blockers.

Side missions and encounters also received changes, including fixes for repeatable missions. The update added notes in the open world and hubs, giving players additional information to find during exploration.
Regions, equipment, controls, and presentation
The regions-and-locations section lists over 450 improvements, spanning level design, terrain, foliage, lighting, collision, and artifact spawns. Other changes covered player gear and state, map and HUD guidance, controller behavior, key bindings, and upgrade-menu usability. GSC separately described over 120 fixes to player guidance and game settings.

Audio, cutscenes, and voice-over received nearly 100 fixes, according to the notes. Taken together, the categories show why Patch 1.2 was framed as a broad overhaul rather than a single-system balance patch.

Is Patch 1.2 a separate product?
