The Safi’jiiva Siege is a cooperative endgame hunt in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. First complete the Safi’jiiva Recon Assignment from Seliana’s Gathering Hub; then join the Siege, work with other hunters on its objectives, and try to slay the monster. The main reward is an awakened Safi’jiiva weapon, which you can develop at the Smithy using Dracolite.
How to unlock the Safi’jiiva Siege
Complete the Safi’jiiva Recon Assignment before posting or joining the Siege. Capcom’s March 2020 update announcement says the Recon is available from the Seliana Gathering Hub, can be posted or joined, and can be replayed after completion. It is a separate assignment that introduces the encounter; completing it is the Siege prerequisite.
Capcom recommends using Recon to learn the fight before attempting the full hunt. In a PlayStation Blog overview, Capcom Senior Manager of Social Media and Community Yuri Araujo said, “We highly recommend taking on the Recon Assignment to learn the ropes and practice a bit before the real hunt.”
How the Siege works
Safi’jiiva is the mature form of Xeno’jiiva. Unlike the Recon, the Siege is a team hunt in a special locale: hunters cooperate to complete Siege objectives and attempt to slay the target. It is objective-driven, not simply a series of independent hunts.
#1 Best Overall
- Contains both Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne expansion
- Explore sprawling locales teeming with undiscovered creatures and thriving ecosystems
- Battle fearsome monsters not only to craft new weapons & armor, but also to drive the story forward and uncover the mysteries of the New World and Hoarfrost Reach
- Extensive single-player campaign that also allows drop-in multiplayer; use the SOS Flare to summon other hunters for an assist!
- Use monster materials, as well as items found growing in the wild, to craft new items and gear
Capcom’s published overview establishes that shared objective-and-slay format, but does not provide a dependable full objective checklist, area-by-area strategy, or damage thresholds. The practical distinction is clear: use Recon to practice the encounter, then join the Siege for the cooperative hunt and its weapon rewards.
What rewards the Siege gives
Successful Siege completion can reward awakened Safi’jiiva weapons. Each weapon starts with preset stats; at the Smithy, you spend Dracolite to awaken it and develop its abilities. Capcom says those abilities can be mixed, matched, and stacked to adjust weapon stats, and can include certain monster armor set-bonus skills. That flexibility can support armor combinations that would otherwise be harder to build around.

What Dragonvein Awakening does
The Safi’jiiva armor set bonus, Dragonvein Awakening, trades health for offensive boosts. Capcom describes it as increasing attack, elemental, and affinity stats while consuming health as you attack. Landing hits activates a surge of health recovery; missed attacks do not restore the health already lost. The mechanic therefore rewards sustained accuracy, but the source does not establish it as the best choice for every weapon or player.

The schedule dates in Capcom’s announcements are historical, not a current rotation calendar. A 2020 Steam notice announced a Siege period beginning March 20, 2020 at 00:00 UTC and ending April 12, 2020 at 23:59 UTC. The PlayStation Blog’s January 2020 article described January 4, 2020 as the end of the then-live Siege and crossover quest period. Neither date indicates present availability. Check Capcom’s official Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne site for current schedule information; the cited historical notices do not establish today’s rotation.
