Pocket Gamer’s broad roster ranking
Pocket Gamer’s September 2 update says it added Taurus Aldebaran (Hasgard) and Griffon Minos (LC) for version 1.0.73. Its upper tiers include:
- S+: Taurus Aldebaran (Hasgard), Griffon Minos (LC), Ophiuchus Asclepius, God Cloth Hyôga, Pisces Albafica, Virgo Shijima, Balrog Lune, God Hades, Phoenix Ikki, Evil Saga, Shaka, and Aioros, among others.
- S: King of the Underworld Alone, God Cloth Aries Mu, Pope Sage, Saga, Camus, Shina, Sagittarius Seiya, Aioria, and Pandora, among others.

- C: Geki, Black Andromeda, Hound, Graad Guard, Sanctuary Warrior, and Graveyard units, among others.
Pocket Gamer recommends treating S+ and S as priority summon targets and using A-tier Knights while waiting for stronger options. That is the guide’s advice, not an official game rule. Its page also suggests using C-tier characters as upgrade material, but the official game description does not establish the game’s promotion mechanics. Check the in-game requirements before consuming a character.

Why the rankings disagree
The lists differ in roster coverage and stated purpose, so their tiers should not be averaged into a single score. Saga and Shaka are S in Gameax and S+ in Pocket Gamer; Camus is S in both. Shina is S in Pocket Gamer but C in Gameax, while Marin is A in Pocket Gamer and C in Gameax. Those contrasts make scope, mode, and character version essential context when comparing placements.
Neither ranking establishes a universal ordering with comparable public performance statistics. The pages do not provide a shared numerical scoring method or a controlled match dataset, and no publisher-attributed win rate, pick rate, or usage percentage is given. Treat each placement as editorial judgment, not measured proof that a Knight will outperform another in every team.

How to choose Knights for your team
The official US App Store description says the game uses six formation slots, six elements—Water, Fire, Air, Earth, Light, and Darkness—and four Knight types: Protector, Warrior, Assassin, and Skilled. It sums up team-building with the line, “there is no strongest knight but only stronger formation.” That is promotional wording from the official game description, but it aptly points to a practical issue: an individual tier does not tell you whether a Knight fills a useful role in your lineup.
Gameax says its ranking considers ultimate-skill impact, including control, area damage, and protection; speed and turn order; and investment needs such as awakenings, stars, and equipment. It also notes that a Knight can outperform a nominally higher-tier pick in a suitable composition with adequate investment. Before committing scarce resources, compare:

- Fans can look for more Anime Heroes Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac series figures from Bandai (Each figure sold separately)
- Mode: Check whether the ranking covers the content you are progressing through. Gameax specifies advanced PvE and Arena; Pocket Gamer’s list is broader.
- Version: Confirm the exact character variant. A base Knight and a named alternate version are not automatically interchangeable for tier placement.
- Formation role: Consider whether your six-slot lineup needs protection, damage, control, or another contribution—and whether the Knight’s element and type fit the team.
- Opening impact: Skills and turn order can influence whether a Knight contributes before the fight’s outcome is largely decided.
- Investment: Account for the awakenings, stars, and equipment needed to make the character effective, not only the tier label.
For a new account, treat the published tiers as a shortlist rather than a complete team-building answer: use viable Knights you can field, then weigh upgrades against your current roles and target mode. Pocket Gamer’s recommendation to use A-tier characters while waiting for stronger options is one editorial approach; whether to invest in a particular Knight depends on your roster and the cost of making that unit work.

Character releases can make a list stale quickly. The official game site’s news feed displayed an Apollo official video dated September 24, 2026, Thanatos (LC) on September 10, Taurus Aldebaran (Hasgard) on August 27, and Griffon Minos on August 13. Check the official site’s dated character news alongside the date and version on any tier list. A community-maintained Codex release timeline also tracks entries across GLO, JP, and CN labels; it is useful as chronology, not official confirmation of regional availability or character strength.

The App Store listing describes Saint Seiya: Legend of Justice as a free iPhone and iPad idle RPG with in-app purchases. It does not establish current summon odds, prices, or availability in every region, so a tier placement should not be treated as a promise that a character is obtainable for a particular player.
