Samsung Display showed Flex Gaming, a handheld gaming concept with a 7.2-inch foldable OLED, at Mobile World Congress 2025. It was a display and form-factor demonstration—not an announced Samsung console for sale. The announcement gave no release date, price, or final hardware specifications.
What Samsung showed at MWC 2025
Samsung Display presented Flex Gaming at MWC 2025, which began in Barcelona on March 3, 2025. The concept pairs a handheld-console design with a 7.2-inch foldable OLED screen. Samsung Display’s announcement described it as a concept gaming console; it did not announce a consumer product from Samsung Electronics.

The exhibit was more than a render: Samsung Display said visitors could experience Krafton games on Flex Gaming. But a game demonstration does not establish that the prototype had production-ready internals, finalized software, or hardware intended for mass manufacture.

The idea is to trade a smaller carrying footprint when folded for a larger play surface when open. That could make a handheld easier to pack without committing to a permanently wide device. It is a design proposition, not a verified portability benefit: Samsung did not publish the concept’s dimensions or folded thickness.

For Samsung Display, the device also illustrates how OLED might be used beyond phones and tablets. OLED can offer strong contrast and vivid color, and Samsung positioned display technology as the focus of a broader exhibit. The company did not publish Flex Gaming measurements for response time or other gaming-specific display performance.
What is confirmed—and what remains unknown
The verified display detail is a 7.2-inch foldable OLED. The announcement does not give its resolution, refresh rate, brightness, HDR certification, crease dimensions, touch-sampling rate, or durability and hinge-cycle ratings. The diagonal measurement alone also does not reveal the screen’s aspect ratio or usable gaming area.

- Operating system, game launcher, or supported storefronts
- Battery capacity, cooling design, or expected battery life
- Controller layout, ports, or external-display support
- Manufacturer, licensing partner, price, or release date
Those omissions matter. Without confirmed internals and software, there is no sound basis for comparing Flex Gaming’s performance with a Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, or Nintendo Switch.

What the MWC demo does—and does not—say about games
Samsung Display said visitors could play Krafton games at the exhibit. The announcement also mentioned Krafton’s inZOI elsewhere in the broader exhibition, in connection with a separate glasses-free 3D-display demonstration. It does not establish that inZOI was running on Flex Gaming.
The same exhibition included a Steam Deck and a Razer Blade 16 equipped with Samsung OLED technology. They were separate demonstration devices, not components of Flex Gaming or evidence that the concept used the same hardware.

How Flex Gaming differs from handhelds you can buy
Flex Gaming belongs in a different category from current handhelds: it is a concept built around a foldable display, while the products below are established devices with fixed screens. This is a comparison of design direction, not performance.
| Device or category | What it offers | How it differs from Flex Gaming |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Deck OLED | Portable PC gaming with an OLED display and SteamOS | It has a conventional rigid screen, not a foldable panel. See Valve’s official page. |
| ROG Ally / ROG Ally X | Windows-based handheld PC gaming | It uses a rigid screen and conventional handheld body; Windows offers PC flexibility but is a different software experience. See ASUS’s product page. |
| Lenovo Legion Go | PC handheld gaming with a large screen and detachable controls | Its display is fixed rather than foldable. See Lenovo’s product page. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Portable gaming in Nintendo’s console ecosystem | It is a conventional fixed-screen console, not a PC handheld or a foldable-display concept. See Nintendo’s product page. |
A foldable design could distinguish a future handheld if it reduces carrying size without sacrificing comfort or screen usability. It also introduces questions that a concept display alone cannot answer: whether a crease distracts during play, how the screen handles pressure and repeated folding, whether the controls remain comfortable, and whether a compact enclosure leaves enough room for cooling and battery capacity. A foldable panel could also add cost, but no price is available to assess that trade-off.

Is Flex Gaming a new Samsung console you can buy?
No purchase information appears in Samsung Display’s MWC announcement: there is no preorder page, retail price, or release plan. Samsung’s later AWE USA 2025 reference continued to describe Flex Gaming as a concept display. That does not rule out future commercialization, but it is not evidence that a console is coming.
Samsung Display’s earlier foldable-handheld idea was shown at CES 2023, according to TechSpot’s coverage. That earlier concept had a different flip-open design; it does not establish a product roadmap. The MWC 2025 announcement is best read as another exploration of what foldable displays might enable, not proof that Samsung is entering the handheld-console market.
What would make it a real product?
A commercial announcement would need to identify who is building the device and provide final specifications, a software platform, price, availability, warranty, and service details. For a foldable gaming handheld, independent testing would also need to answer practical questions about battery life, sustained gaming performance, cooling, crease visibility, durability, and repairability. Until then, Flex Gaming is evidence of a possible form factor—not a shipping competitor to existing consoles.
