Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey Monitors Split 6K, Glasses-Free 3D, and 1,040Hz Into Separate Paths

Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey lineup splits its biggest advances across five monitors: 6K glasses-free 3D, 1,040Hz HD gaming, 6K and 5K IPS panels, and a 4K 240Hz QD-OLED.

Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey announcement is not one monitor with 6K, glasses-free 3D, and 1,040Hz. It is a five-model lineup that splits those advances into separate products: the Odyssey 3D G90XH pairs 6K with glasses-free 3D, the Odyssey G6 G60H reaches 1,040Hz only in HD, and three Odyssey G8 models focus on 6K, 5K, or OLED display quality.

One announcement, three different display breakthroughs

Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey lineup is easier to understand as a portfolio of trade-offs than as one monitor that combines 6K, glasses-free 3D, and 1,040Hz refresh. The five announced models divide those headline features into three paths:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • 6K and glasses-free 3D: the 32-inch Odyssey 3D G90XH.
  • Extreme refresh rate: the 27-inch Odyssey G6 G60H, which reaches 1,040Hz only in HD mode and up to 600Hz at native QHD.
  • High-resolution and OLED alternatives: the Odyssey G8 G80HS, G80HF, and OLED G8 G80SH.

That distinction matters. The G90XH does not run at 1,040Hz, the G60H is not a 6K monitor, and the G80HS is a 6K display without the G90XH’s glasses-free 3D system.

Odyssey 3D G90XH: 6K resolution without 3D glasses

The Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XH is the most unusual model in the group. It is a 32-inch IPS gaming monitor with a 6,144 × 3,456 native resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Its Dual Mode can switch to 3K resolution at up to 330Hz.

Its defining feature is glasses-free 3D. Samsung describes the system as using real-time eye tracking and view-dependent depth adjustment. Later descriptions refer to the combination as Eye Tracking and View Mapping: the display monitors the viewer’s position and adjusts the scene’s depth and perspective accordingly.

The monitor also supports 2D-to-3D conversion, which is intended to make the feature useful beyond games specifically authored for stereoscopic presentation. Samsung lists HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The important performance trade-off is resolution. The G90XH’s highest listed refresh rate is 330Hz at 3K, not 6K. At native 6K, Samsung lists operation up to 165Hz. That is still a high refresh rate for a very high-resolution display, but the two headline figures describe different modes.

What can you play in 3D?

Samsung delivers compatible Odyssey 3D titles through its Odyssey 3D Hub. At GDC 2026, the company said the Hub supported more than 60 titles at the time and identified games including The First Berserker: Khazan, Stellar Blade, Lies of P: Overture, and MONGIL: STAR DIVE. Samsung also announced Hell is Us and Cronos: The New Dawn as additions or planned additions to the ecosystem.

Those are Samsung’s ecosystem figures and compatibility claims, not independent testing results. Support does not necessarily mean every game will produce the same quality of depth, image stability, or performance. The practical buying question is therefore not just whether a game appears on a compatibility list, but whether the titles you actually play are supported and whether you like the effect.

The G90XH should also not be confused with the existing 27-inch Odyssey 3D G90XF listed in Samsung’s U.S. catalog. The G90XF is a distinct 4K, 165Hz model. It is not the announced 32-inch 6K G90XH.

Odyssey G6 G60H: 1,040Hz, but only in HD

The Samsung Odyssey G6 G60H is aimed at players who value motion clarity and extremely high refresh rates above resolution. Samsung describes it as the world’s first 1,040Hz gaming monitor, but that headline number needs a prominent qualification: 1,040Hz is available only in HD through Dual Mode.

LG 32GS60QC-B Ultragear 32-inch Curved Gaming Monitor QHD (2560x1440) 180Hz 1ms 1000R AMD FreeSync HDR10 HDMIx2 DisplayPort Borderless Design Black Stabilizer DAS Crosshair FPS Counter - Black
  • Ascend your game with the speed of UltraGear - Experience next-level QHD gaming performance.
  • 180Hz Refresh Rate & 1ms GtG - Gear up for smooth gameplay at up to 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG. The faster speed and smoother action lets you respond quickly to stay a step ahead of the competition.
  • 1000R Curved Screen - This UltraGear monitor's dramatic and steep 1000R curve draws you in with game play by extending the periphery to feel like you're surround by the action.
  • AMD FreeSync - AMD FreeSync equips gamers with a fluid, virtually tear-free gaming experience. With up to a 180Hz refresh rate at Full HD resolution and low latency gameplay, you'll never miss a frame of the action as you play at peak performance.
  • Gamer-Centric Design - Lose yourself in the game with a three-side virtually borderless, ultra-thin design that optimizes space on your battlestation. With two HMDI ports and DisplayPort connectivity on a tilt adjustable display, game to your specs.

At its native QHD resolution, the G60H supports refresh rates up to 600Hz. In other words, the meaningful comparison is not “1,040Hz versus ordinary 144Hz” at the same resolution. It is:

  • QHD: up to 600Hz.
  • HD: up to 1,040Hz.

The G60H uses an IPS panel and supports AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible. Samsung lists both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1.

A monitor’s refresh-rate ceiling does not make a game render more frames. Actual frame delivery depends on the game, graphics settings, resolution, GPU, CPU, and the rest of the system. A 1,040Hz mode is therefore primarily a technical ceiling for very high-frame-rate competitive play, and it requires a system and game workload capable of producing frames quickly enough to benefit from it.

For many players, the 600Hz QHD mode will be the more relevant specification because it preserves more image detail. The 1,040Hz setting is the extreme option, and its HD limitation is the central fact to understand before treating the number as a buying reason.

Odyssey G8 G80HS: 6K without the 3D layer

The Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HS is the straightforward high-resolution choice. It uses a 32-inch IPS panel with 6,144 × 3,456 resolution and a listed density of 224 pixels per inch. Like the G90XH, it supports 6K at up to 165Hz or can switch to 3K at up to 330Hz through Dual Mode.

The difference is that the G80HS does not add the glasses-free 3D system. It is aimed at players who want the sharpness and workspace of 6K but would rather not pay for, configure, or depend on a 3D gaming ecosystem.

Samsung lists DisplayPort 2.1, AMD FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible, and HDR10+ Gaming support. For readers comparing the announced models, the G80HS is the cleanest fit for high-resolution gaming, desktop use, and media where conventional 2D presentation is the priority.

Samsung 27" Odyssey G5 (G51F) Series QHD (1440P) Gaming Monitor | 180Hz, 1ms, AMD FreeSync, HDR10, Height Adj Stand, Black Equalizer, Virtual Aim Point, Auto Source Switch+ (LS27FG512ENXZA)
  • QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
  • HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
  • The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
  • AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
  • Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort

Odyssey G8 G80HF: 5K density in a smaller screen

The 27-inch Odyssey G8 G80HF offers a middle ground between the 6K models and the faster G60H. Its IPS panel runs at 5,120 × 2,880 resolution and 218 pixels per inch, with refresh rates up to 180Hz at 5K.

Its Dual Mode can switch to QHD at up to 360Hz. That gives the G80HF a different balance from the G80HS: it offers a smaller, high-density 5K canvas, then trades resolution for a substantially faster refresh mode when a particular game benefits more from responsiveness.

Samsung lists DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, along with AMD FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible, and HDR10+ Gaming. The G80HF is the model to examine if 27 inches is a better fit for your desk or viewing distance than 32 inches, but you still want more desktop detail than a conventional 4K gaming display.

OLED G8 G80SH: 4K, 240Hz, and USB-C

The Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH takes a different route from the IPS models. It combines a 4K QD-OLED panel with refresh rates up to 240Hz, Glare Free viewing technology, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

Samsung’s launch description lists 300 nits of typical brightness and positions the G80SH around OLED contrast rather than maximum resolution or the highest possible refresh rate. It also includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 with up to 80Gbps bandwidth and USB-C charging up to 98W.

Samsung’s later U.S. material describes both 27-inch and 32-inch G80SH variants. Because the size, port configuration, and exact specification can depend on the regional SKU, buyers should verify the model number rather than assuming every G80SH listing is identical.

The G80SH is the most natural fit for someone who wants a high-refresh 4K display with OLED contrast and a single-cable USB-C connection for a compatible laptop or device. It is not Samsung’s highest-resolution Odyssey, and it does not replace the G90XH if glasses-free 3D is the reason for upgrading.

Which 2026 Odyssey is the most sensible choice?

If your priority is… Start with… Why Check first
Glasses-free 3D G90XH It is the announced 32-inch 6K model with Eye Tracking, View Mapping, and 2D-to-3D conversion. Whether your games are supported by the Odyssey 3D Hub and whether the 3K/330Hz trade-off suits you.
Maximum competitive refresh G60H It reaches 1,040Hz in HD and up to 600Hz at native QHD. Whether your games and PC can deliver enough frames to make either mode useful.

Compact high pixel density G80HF Its 27-inch 5K panel reaches 180Hz and can switch to QHD at 360Hz. Whether 27 inches and the 5K/QHD modes fit your desk and games.
OLED contrast and USB-C G80SH It combines 4K QD-OLED, 240Hz, Glare Free viewing, and up to 98W USB-C charging. The exact 27-inch or 32-inch regional SKU and its brightness and connectivity details.

What to verify before buying

  1. Match the resolution to the refresh rate. The G90XH and G80HS reach 330Hz only after switching from 6K to 3K. The G60H reaches 1,040Hz only after switching from QHD to HD.
  2. Confirm your system’s output target. Samsung’s specifications describe what the panel can accept; they do not guarantee that a particular PC can render games at 6K, 5K, QHD at 600Hz, or HD at 1,040Hz.
  3. Check the available ports and cable path. Several models list DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1. A DisplayPort 2.1 or HDMI 2.1 cable may be relevant when building a high-bandwidth setup, but Samsung’s specifications alone do not establish that one particular cable brand is required.
  4. Verify the exact model number. The G90XH and G90XF are different monitors, and the G80SH may appear in different sizes and regional configurations.
  5. Check stock and price in your country. Samsung’s announcement and later availability statements do not create one universal price or guarantee identical retailer inventory worldwide.

Availability and the bigger picture

Samsung first presented the five-monitor lineup in December 2025 before CES 2026, then used GDC 2026 to demonstrate the Odyssey 3D ecosystem. In later U.S. launch material, Samsung said its latest Odyssey, OLED, ViewFinity, and Movingstyle Essential monitors had reached global availability and provided official product pages for the G80HS and G80HF.

  • Quality Visuals: The KG271U 27" IPS monitor with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
  • AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provide the smoothest gaming experience.
  • Up to 180Hz: The 180Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 180Hz, Acer Gaming Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
  • Responsive!!: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting with KG271U Gaming Monitor.
  • New Depths of Color Accuracy: is monitor is ideal for color-critical projects producing accurate colors, supporting DCI-P3 95%. An amazing monitor for graphic designers, photographers, and film editors.

The distinction between “announced,” “globally available,” and “in stock in a specific country” is important here. Regional Samsung catalogs can expose different model numbers, sizes, prices, and purchase options. The U.S. catalog also lists the separate 27-inch 4K G90XF, which should not be used as evidence that the 32-inch 6K G90XH is available under the same SKU.

Samsung also announced partnerships and integrations involving CD PROJEKT RED and Pearl Abyss, including HDR10+ Gaming work connected with Cyberpunk 2077 and Crimson Desert. These announcements show how Samsung is trying to build an ecosystem around the displays, but they are still Samsung’s claims about partnerships and planned or supported experiences rather than independent testing of every game.

The bottom line

Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey push is significant because it separates three kinds of progress instead of pretending they are the same upgrade. The G90XH makes 6K glasses-free 3D the headline. The G60H makes extreme refresh rate the headline, with 1,040Hz restricted to HD and 600Hz available at QHD. The G80HS, G80HF, and G80SH offer more conventional alternatives built around 6K, 5K density, or OLED contrast.

For most buyers, the right choice will come from the mode they will actually use—not the largest number in the product name. Verify the resolution-refresh pairing, your PC’s ability to drive it, the exact regional SKU, and current stock before making a purchase decision.
