But a “lowest price ever” Prime Day claim is not verified by the available price information: the documented $339.99 figure is a reported launch price, not a current Amazon offer or a historical price record.
What the SanDisk 2TB card is—and what it does
The product is the SANDISK Optimus GX C50 Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S, model SDCEOGN-2T00-GNAGX. SanDisk lists a 2TB capacity, an Xbox expansion-slot interface, compatibility with Xbox Series X and Series S, and direct game play from the card. SanDisk also lists a five-year limited warranty. SanDisk product details.
SanDisk says the 2TB card can hold “up to 50 additional games.” That is the manufacturer’s estimate; the number of games you can store depends on their individual sizes.
Is it really at its lowest price ever?
That claim cannot be confirmed from the available figures. GamesRadar reported a $339.99 US launch price for the 2TB card on August 10, 2026. A launch price is useful context, but it does not show what Amazon currently charges or establish an all-time low. GamesRadar’s August 10, 2026 report.

Before treating a Prime Day listing as a record deal, match the exact model number, SDCEOGN-2T00-GNAGX, and check the live price, seller, stock, and a reliable price-history record. A price for a different capacity or an older WD_BLACK-branded card is not evidence of this SanDisk model’s price history.
Can you play Xbox Series X|S games from an external hard drive?
Not if they are optimized for Xbox Series X|S. SanDisk’s support guidance says optimized games cannot be played from external USB storage; an Xbox expansion card is the option for playing those games directly from added storage. SanDisk’s Xbox storage support guidance.

An external USB drive can still be used for games or media, but it is not a direct-play replacement for the expansion card when it comes to optimized Series X|S games. SanDisk also warns that formatting a drive erases its data, so back up anything you need before formatting.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the product: look for “SANDISK Optimus GX C50” and model SDCEOGN-2T00-GNAGX, not simply “Xbox SSD” or “2TB expansion.”
- Check the offer itself: verify the seller, stock, final checkout price, and whether the discount is actually available to you.
- Evaluate the price claim separately: compare the exact model against a reliable price-history record before calling the offer an all-time low.
- Choose storage for how you play: an Xbox expansion card is for direct play of optimized Series X|S games; external USB storage has a different role.
