The game launched worldwide on August 14, 2025, according to EA’s announcement.
Why is Saquon Barkley on the Madden NFL 26 cover?
EA tied the cover choice to a signature play and a historic season. Barkley’s reverse hurdle became one of the defining moments of the Eagles’ 2024 campaign, while his rushing production established a new NFL milestone. He also earned a 99 overall rating in Madden’s 99 Club.

“Saquon’s reverse hurdle was one of the rare, defining moments in NFL history that would have once been described as ‘something out of a videogame,’” said Evan Dexter, EA SPORTS Madden NFL’s vice president of franchise strategy and marketing, in EA’s 2025 announcement. Barkley said appearing on the cover and joining the 99 Club were “both dreams come true.”
What is different between the standard and Deluxe covers?

The standard image is a staged recreation, not a documentary photograph of the original play. NFL.com reported that EA added the reverse-hurdle move to Madden NFL 25 gameplay within a week of Barkley making it in a real game. The cover artwork and the in-game move are distinct: one commemorates the moment visually, while the other let players perform a version of it in the prior game.

What did Barkley accomplish in 2024?
The Philadelphia Eagles reported that Barkley ran for 2,005 yards in the regular season, a franchise record. Including playoffs, his total was 2,504 rushing yards. EA described him as the first player in NFL history to rush for more than 2,500 yards in a season including playoffs; the Eagles likewise reported the 2,504-yard combined total. The Associated Press also reported that Barkley scored 18 rushing touchdowns.
Those totals have different scopes: 2,005 covers the regular season alone, while 2,504 includes postseason games. The Eagles said Barkley was the ninth player in NFL history to exceed 2,000 rushing yards in a regular season.

What does Barkley’s 99 Club rating mean?
The Eagles announced that Barkley became the first offensive player in franchise history to enter Madden’s 99 Club. The team identifies 99 overall as the game’s highest overall player rating. It is a separate recognition from the cover selection: the cover honors Barkley’s memorable season and play, while the rating represents his standing in the game’s player ratings.
