Satisfactory is a first-person factory-building game that pairs automated production with exploration and some combat. You can play alone or online with friends. Its current update 1.2 launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 2 June 2026, adding adjustable weather and controller improvements. This guide explains what the game offers and what to consider before choosing it; it is based on official product and update information, not hands-on play or hardware testing.
What kind of game is Satisfactory?
Satisfactory combines first-person exploration of an alien planet with building and expanding factories. You gather resources, automate production, and move parts through the Space Elevator to complete Project Assembly. The official Steam listing describes it as a “first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat.” Steam’s Satisfactory listing and Coffee Stain’s 1.0 launch announcement outline those core elements.
The first-person perspective means exploration and factory construction happen from a ground-level viewpoint rather than through a purely overhead management interface. The available official descriptions establish that exploration and combat are part of the mix, but do not quantify how much time either takes compared with building.
Can you play Satisfactory solo or in co-op?
Yes. The Steam listing includes single-player, online co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer. That makes solo play an officially supported option, while online play is available for people who want to build and explore with others. The listing does not specify player limits or explain the conditions for cross-platform sessions, so check the current store or platform details for those specifics.

- [Games need exclusions and runtimes, not malware]Some customers ask why our retro game drives can trigger Windows Security warnings. Many game files are older DLLs that Windows Defender sometimes flags as threats. They are not viruses or malware—just old or uncommon code causing false positives. We temporarily add them to the exclusion list so they aren't blocked, then re-enable Security to keep your PC protected. Many classic games also need legacy VC++ and DirectX runtimes, which modern Windows doesn't include by default. Installing them ensures compatibility and smooth play. Your safety matters to us—these are safe, standard steps for retro games.

Which platforms can play the current version?
The PC version released on 10 September 2024, and Coffee Stain named Steam and Epic Games as PC storefronts at launch. Coffee Stain’s official announcements confirm that update 1.2 launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 2 June 2026. The official announcements page also includes a v1.2.4.0 fixes post dated 11 August; consult it for the latest patch information because update status can change. Coffee Stain’s official Satisfactory announcements document the update and subsequent patch posts.
Those platform announcements establish that the game and update reached those systems; they do not establish equal performance or feature parity between PC and consoles. If platform choice is important, confirm the current edition and feature details on the relevant storefront rather than assuming they match.

What changed in update 1.2?
Coffee Stain’s 2 June 2026 announcement highlights a new weather system, adjustable conditions, rain effects, and controller improvements. PC Gamer’s 7 June 2026 update report also describes fluid stations and fluid trucks as options for transporting liquids, along with a rebuilt vehicle pathing system and smaller additions. PC Gamer’s update report is secondary coverage; for exact current patch details, use Coffee Stain’s official announcements.
PC Gamer reported that some Steam Deck players experienced slowdowns from weather effects and that those effects could be adjusted or turned off. That is a report of user experience, not a controlled benchmark or a guarantee of performance on every Steam Deck or current patch. The available evidence does not support a broader performance comparison across hardware.

Who is Satisfactory likely to suit?
The clearest fit is someone interested in designing and expanding automated production while also moving through an explorable world in first person. Solo play is supported, and online co-op is available if you would rather play with others. The game also includes combat, so it is not described as factory construction alone.
If your main concern is a particular platform, input method, or performance level, the official feature descriptions do not answer every practical question. Update 1.2 added controller-related improvements, but that alone does not establish identical controls or performance across systems. Check current platform-specific information before buying if those details are decisive.
