Schedule I’s v0.4.0 beta update puts the Benzies Family into Hyland Point as a rival cartel and makes cartel influence part of regional progression. Its beta notes also list new encounters, Hyland Manor, a vehicle, weapons, hairstyles, and gameplay changes. The update was announced for beta testing on August 13, 2025; a Steam event titled “v0.4.0: Rival Cartel” followed on August 27, 2025.
What the Schedule I v0.4.0 beta adds
The update’s central addition is the Benzies Family, a rival cartel whose presence affects both player encounters and progress through Hyland Point. The developer’s August 13, 2025 beta notes say players first encounter the family after unlocking a few customers in Westville.
Cartel encounters
The beta notes describe several ways the conflict can play out:
- Deals between the player and the cartel while the groups are truced
- Ambushes
- Dealers being robbed
- Stolen dead drops
- Deals between the cartel and customers
New property, vehicle, weapons, and styles
The listed additions also include Hyland Manor, which requires completing the Benzies Family storyline before it can be purchased; the Hotbox vehicle; a pump shotgun and shotgun shells; and three hairstyles. The notes additionally mention several developer commands.

How the rival cartel affects progression
Each region now has a cartel-influence level. According to the beta notes, players must reduce that influence to a specified level before they can progress to the next region. This connects the Benzies Family to the broader progression system, rather than making the cartel only a source of optional encounters.
Other changes listed in the beta notes
Beyond the cartel and its progression gate, the v0.4.0 notes list changes to:
- Dialogue visibility in multiplayer
- Cancellation of deals assigned to dealers
- Pickpocketing
- Vehicle braking
- Ranged weapons used by non-police NPCs
- Combat target-position prediction
