What happened to School of Dragons?
The game team’s shutdown notice, reproduced by Soft112, said support had ended immediately, no further downloads or content or functionality updates would be provided, and the servers would close completely on June 30, 2023. The notice also said player progress, items, and user data would not be saved. Soft112’s reproduction of the game team notice is dated April 21, 2023 and appears with version 3.31.0.
The notice said in-app purchases would be disabled within a day or two and asked players to spend their remaining in-game currency before the shutdown. That instruction was not an offer of a refund or a way to transfer accounts or purchases.

Why did the company say it was closing the game?
A June 8, 2023 response attributed to School of Dragons support and signed “Samantha J.” appears reproduced on a French-language Change.org petition page. It said the game had engaged its community for nearly ten years and that supporting and updating it had become difficult in a rapidly changing, competitive mobile-game market. This is the company’s stated explanation as reproduced by the petition page, not an independently verified financial analysis. Read the reproduced support response on Change.org.
The same response said memberships and purchases to license virtual items were “non-refundable and non-transferable.” It does not describe a refund or transfer option for players.

Did the petition save the game?
The available sources establish that players circulated and signed petitions, but do not establish that either campaign changed the shutdown decision. A June 11, 2023 Reddit thread shows people sharing the petition as well as questioning whether a petition could affect the outcome; those comments document that discussion only, not the views of the player community as a whole. Read the June 11 Reddit discussion.
Accordingly, the 13,151 supporters displayed on the main petition page are evidence of participation in that campaign—not proof that the game was saved, that its closure was delayed, or that all players supported the petition.
