SCP-3008 is a collaborative horror story about people trapped in an IKEA-like store that seems to stretch beyond its walls. Its premise is fictional, and “SCP-3008 game” can mean very different adaptations: some focus on surviving hostile staff and building shelter, while SCP-3008: Infinite Store is an observation-driven, combat-free horror game about spotting anomalies and finding a way out.
What is SCP-3008?
SCP-3008 is a work of collaborative horror fiction on the SCP Wiki, in an article titled “A Perfectly Normal, Regular Old IKEA” and credited to Mortos. The IKEA-like setting and its staff entities are inventions in the story, not claims about the real retailer or its stores.

In the fictional case file, entering through the main entrance can transport someone into SCP-3008-1, a space resembling a furniture store but extending beyond the building’s physical dimensions. The article gives its measured area as at least 10 km². That is an in-fiction measurement; the idea that the space might be infinite is speculation within the story, not a real-world measurement.
Why does the story feel like survival horror?
A familiar store becomes a trap
The horror comes from turning a recognizable consumer space into an environment with no dependable edge. Trapped people form settlements and build fortifications among the furniture, making ordinary displays and products part of a struggle to stay safe.

The staff are dangerous after dark
SCP-3008-2 entities resemble employees but have faceless features and inconsistent, exaggerated proportions. They wear yellow shirts and blue trousers, and become violent during the space’s night cycle. Exits exist in the story, but their positions are not fixed, so finding one is not a straightforward matter of retracing a route.
A line from the fictional survivor journal captures the contrast: “Staff monsters, row after endless row of high quality Swedish furniture.” It is the narrator’s description in Mortos’s story, not a real-world account. Read the SCP Wiki article.
What happens in the SCP-3008 games?
There is no single canonical gameplay loop shared by every SCP-3008 adaptation. The story supplies the setting and horror premise; individual developers interpret it differently.

SCP-3008: Infinite Store: observe, decide, escape
Steam describes SCP-3008: Infinite Store as a single-player psychological horror game built around inspecting repeated rooms for anomalies. Players decide whether to turn back or continue, then gather items from a shopping list to reach a cash-out room. The listing says it has no combat or hints. Steam lists YAP as developer, Yet Another Publisher as publisher, and 14 March 2026 as the release date. These details apply to this game alone. See its Steam listing.

Other adaptations: survival, building, and multiplayer
A separate browser-game project describes procedural store chunks, multiplayer, survival mechanics, and staff that turn hostile at night. Another game’s Steam Community update history records additions such as hunger, thirst, consumable items, crafting recipes, and more furniture. These are project-specific features, not rules that apply to every SCP-3008 game. View the browser-game project on GitHub and check the other game’s Steam Community updates.

Quick Recap
Which details are fictional, and which describe real games?
- Fiction: the store’s impossible dimensions, the at-least-10-km² figure, trapped settlements, shifting exit locations, and SCP-3008-2 staff entities all belong to Mortos’s story.
- Game-specific facts: mechanics such as anomaly detection, multiplayer, hunger, crafting, and combat restrictions describe particular adaptations, not the SCP premise as a whole.
- Changing platform data: Steam showed 102 user reviews and an 84% positive rating on 8 October 2026. This is a dated snapshot of that listing, not a stable measure of popularity.
