Yes—Secret Lair buyers have reported estimated waits of more than an hour during past launches. But those dated reports cannot confirm how long the queue is right now. Wizards says estimates can start high and fall sharply in the first few minutes, so an hour-plus estimate is not a reliable forecast of your final wait.
Have other Secret Lair buyers seen waits over an hour?
Yes. In a May 18, 2026 r/magicTCG waiting-room thread, buyers reported estimates above an hour. An October 13, 2025 thread also includes hour-plus estimates and reports that they changed during the sale. These are snapshots of specific launches, not a live readout of today’s queue.
Why can the estimate be so long?
For high-traffic Secret Lair sales, Wizards uses a virtual waiting room. Its Queue and Pre-Queue FAQ says the pre-queue is generally available one hour before a sale, usually at 8 a.m. PT. Customers enter by adding a product to their cart and proceeding to checkout.
When the sale begins, people already in the pre-queue receive randomly assigned positions. Anyone joining after the sale starts is placed at the back in arrival order. Getting into the pre-queue early therefore does not guarantee a place near the front.

In a September 2026 article, Wizards described recent queue behavior and said displayed estimates may start high, then fall sharply over the first few minutes. The estimate is not a dependable prediction of how long you will ultimately wait, or whether a particular item will remain available.
What should you do while you wait?
- Keep the queue page open. Wizards warns that leaving or refreshing may affect your position.
- Do not refresh to try to improve your place. The official guidance does not recommend refreshing as a queue tactic.
- Do not assume your cart holds the product. Wizards says adding a drop before the sale begins does not reserve it.
- Be prepared for stock to change. A queue estimate does not promise that you will be able to buy the item when you reach checkout.
Can anyone confirm the live wait or stock status?
Not from the dated community reports or Wizards’ general queue guidance. The Reddit threads document long estimates during earlier sales, while the official guidance explains how the queue works; neither verifies the current estimate or inventory for a live sale. The official Secret Lair store is the place to check the current sale and product availability.
