SEGA Account is being added as a login option for Creative Assembly games, but SEGA has not said that every SEGA game requires one. Creative Assembly players can still sign in with either a CA Account or a SEGA Account for now; the eventual end date for CA Account support has not been announced.
What is changing?
Creative Assembly is transitioning from its existing CA Account system to SEGA Account. In its support article updated December 4, 2025, SEGA says users can choose either “Continue with CA Account” or “Continue with SEGA Account” at sign-in. Do you need a SEGA Account to play?
The available official guidance addresses Creative Assembly’s account transition. It does not establish that a SEGA Account is required to buy or play SEGA games generally, nor that every SEGA title uses this account system. A game may have its own account or platform requirements, so check that game’s official instructions rather than assuming this rollout applies across the publisher’s entire catalogue.

CA Account or SEGA Account: which should you use?

These details apply to the Creative Assembly migration described by SEGA, not necessarily to every SEGA game or region. The company says either login works “for now,” but that is not a permanent assurance: its FAQ answer to “What will happen to my CA Account?” is “Nothing yet,” while its guidance also says support will eventually end. What about linking Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Epic accounts?
A report matching this story says users can link Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam accounts, with Epic Games “coming soon.” The report’s page could not be accessed, and the official sources available here do not confirm the current platform-linking list. Treat those platform names and the Epic status as unverified; check the SEGA Account portal for current options before relying on them.
