Serpenphare is an optional overworld boss, and the fight revolves around two problems: the serpent drains your party’s AP and stacks shields that absorb damage. Bring Lightning damage, prepare an inexpensive action for AP-starved turns, and prioritize clearing or rapidly consuming its shields.
Where to find Serpenphare
Serpenphare is on The Continent, southeast of the Boat Graveyard. It is also described as being in the ocean north of the Endless Tower; fly into the creature to start the encounter. You need Esquie’s flight ability to reach it. Although Serpenphare can be seen overhead in Flying Waters earlier in the game, the encounter is not accessible until you can fly. Weaknesses and what to prepare
Serpenphare is weak to Lightning and resists Ice and Fire. It has no available weak spot for free-aim shots, so focus on its elemental weakness and your skills rather than trying to line up a weak-point shot. Serpenphare boss details.
- Bring a reliable Lightning attack if your party has one.
- Keep a cheap, dependable action available for turns when AP drain leaves you unable to use skills.
- Include a way to deal with shields: a full shield-clearing skill or attacks that hit repeatedly.

How to beat Serpenphare
Manage the AP drain
Serpenphare absorbs party AP, which can leave characters without the resources for their usual skills and allow the boss to chain actions. Do not build every turn around expensive abilities. When AP is low, use the dependable low-cost action you prepared, then take advantage of opportunities to return to your stronger attacks.
Clear its shields or wear them down
Serpenphare can apply up to nine shield instances, each of which absorbs incoming damage. Removing those shields can matter more than simply increasing your damage while they remain active. Lune’s Tremor removes all shields. Maelle’s Breaking Rules also removes all shields, deals damage, and restores AP for each shield removed. Serpenphare boss strategy.

If neither shield-clearing skill is available, use multi-hit attacks to consume the shield instances:
- Lune — Elemental Genesis: a multi-hit option that the guide also says may inflict Lightning.
- Verso — Steeled Strike: hits 13 times, making it an option for burning through the stack.
These approaches do different jobs: Tremor and Breaking Rules clear the entire shield stack, while repeated hits consume shield instances one by one. Choose according to which characters and skills your party has available.
