To complete the Shadows on the Wall quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, converge three Pixie Dust Lantern beams on the wooden wall, guide the shadow toward the Jade Skulls, answer their riddles, then turn the wheel. You must first complete A Forgotten Name and unlock The Forgotten as a villager.
Before you start
After completing A Forgotten Name and unlocking The Forgotten as a villager, start Shadows on the Wall and travel to Skull Rock with The Forgotten.
Craft three Pixie Dust Lanterns
Investigate Skull Rock, then gather the materials needed to craft all three lanterns at a workbench:
- 3 Gold Ingots
- 9 Glass
- 9 Vitalys Crystals
- 3 Pixie Dust Orbs

Use the lanterns to trap the shadow
- Attach each Pixie Dust Lantern to a rope winch.
- Rotate the lanterns until all three beams meet at the same section of the wooden wall. Aiming at the wall to The Forgotten’s right is one suggested spot.
- Adjust the beams if they land too near or too far apart to meet clearly. When they converge, interact with the shadow.
Redirect the light toward the Jade Skulls
After interacting with the shadow, adjust the light so the shadow can move across the area toward the Jade Skulls. The puzzle’s sequence is to focus the beams on the wall first, then redirect light to let the shadow travel onward; it is not a choice between alternative quest routes. Give the Jade Skulls these answers in order:
- A pirate ship
- A pixie
- A pan flute
Then turn the wheel beside the Jade Skulls to open the gate. Completing Shadows on the Wall starts the next quest, A Ship of Gold.
