Moebius Quiver is the Nightstalker Hunter’s burst-damage version of Shadowshot: it fires tracking arrow volleys that suppress, weaken, and make targets Volatile. It fires two volleys by default, or three with Orpheus Rig. Bungie’s November 2025 preview described a damage-building mechanic for later shots and bows, but the notes reviewed do not establish a universal damage ranking for every activity.
What Moebius Quiver does
Shadowshot is a Nightstalker Hunter Super with two variants: Moebius Quiver and Deadfall. Moebius Quiver launches a fan of three tracking Void arrows with each shot. Bungie’s 2022 Void 3.0 update says the arrows suppress and weaken targets and make them Volatile. Those effects make the Super more than a direct-damage volley: it also applies debuffs and can help set up Void damage interactions. Bungie’s Void 3.0 update describes the original mechanics.

How many shots it fires
Moebius Quiver has two volleys by default. Orpheus Rig grants a third volley, according to Bungie’s 2022 description. Each volley contains three arrows, so the Super fires six arrows by default or nine with the exotic. The arrows track targets; this is not a fixed-spread weapon volley that requires every arrow to be aimed manually.
How the damage-building mechanic works
In a November 24, 2025 tuning preview, Bungie described a mechanic in which dealing damage while Moebius Quiver is active increases the power of subsequent Shadowshot attacks and bow weapons. Under the previewed behavior, the final shot—or the final two shots when using Orpheus Rig—receive the charged benefit. Bungie cited a maximum increase of 227% for this effect. These are figures from Bungie’s preview, not independently verified live-game measurements. Read Bungie’s November 2025 weapons and abilities preview.

The practical implication is that the Super has a sequencing component: damage dealt during its active window can strengthen later attacks. The preview’s wording specifically includes bow weapons; it should not be read as a blanket damage bonus for every weapon category.
Duration and Orpheus Rig
Bungie’s November 2025 preview proposed increasing Moebius Quiver’s base duration from 10 to 16 seconds and its duration with Orpheus Rig from 16 to 20 seconds. Those are previewed values, not a guarantee of the current live duration. The same preview describes Orpheus Rig as affecting both the number of volleys and which shots receive the charged damage benefit: it grants a third volley, and the final two volleys receive the benefit under the described mechanic.

What changed for Crossbow weapons
Bungie’s June 4, 2026 abilities preview specifies a 50% reduction to the maximum Moebius Quiver buff for Crossbow weapons. The scope matters: the note is about Crossbows, not a stated 50% reduction to the general bow-weapon buff. Bungie’s June 2026 abilities preview gives that qualification.
Moebius Quiver or Deadfall?
Choose according to the job the Super needs to do in the encounter. Bungie framed Deadfall as the best choice for weakening beefy targets and Moebius Quiver as a top-tier damage choice in its November 2025 preview. That is Bungie’s stated design intent, not a universal ranking supported by encounter-by-encounter damage tests.

| Variant | Use it when | What the cited notes establish |
|---|---|---|
| Moebius Quiver | You want a burst-oriented Super that fires tracking volleys and contributes damage alongside debuffs. | Three tracking arrows per volley; two volleys by default, three with Orpheus Rig; applies suppression, weakening, and Volatile. Bungie’s 2025 preview describes its damage-building mechanic. |
| Deadfall | You value tether-based weakening utility for a durable target or need the Super to serve that role. | Bungie’s 2025 preview describes Deadfall as the intended best choice for weakening beefy targets; the sources cited here do not provide a current numerical damage comparison. |
For a specific activity, consider whether the team needs a tether’s weakening utility or a burst-damage Super, whether Orpheus Rig fits the build, and which weapon category you plan to use during the Super. Current encounter-specific DPS comparisons are not established by the cited notes, so no single variant can be called best in every situation.

Bungie’s 2022 update said it adjusted PvE damage scalars to compensate for lower per-arrow direct damage and lower bonus damage against tethered targets, with total damage generally remaining within the previous damage profile. That historical explanation is not current per-arrow damage guidance; do not use old per-arrow values as a present-day comparison. Later tuning previews describe intended mechanics and values, but the sources cited here do not include independent damage testing or live in-game verification.

Will the ability keep changing?
Bungie’s Monument of Triumph announcement called the release the final live-service update and final major update, while allowing that smaller hotfixes and maintenance patches may still follow. Future balance changes remain possible, so treat dated preview figures as statements from those previews rather than immutable mechanics. Bungie’s Monument of Triumph announcement explains that update context.
