Shardbound’s Open Beta launched worldwide on Steam and the Epic Games Store on October 9, 2024. The digital multiplayer tactics game combines collectible card decks with turn-based board positioning; Immutable also announced preregistration card rewards and Main Quest incentives as part of the launch.
When did Shardbound’s Open Beta launch?
Immutable announced the Open Beta’s October 9, 2024 launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The release announcement said the beta was available worldwide on both storefronts. This followed a separate Limited Beta that had opened to everyone on Epic Games Store in June 2024; the June test and October Open Beta were distinct releases.
At launch, Immutable reported that more than 100,000 players had preregistered. That is the company’s announced figure, not an independently audited player count.
What kind of game is Shardbound?
Shardbound is a digital multiplayer collectible tactics game set in a fantasy world. Players build card decks and use units on a tactical board, where positioning, terrain, and unit abilities shape play. It is a PC game with digital cards, not a physical trading-card release established by the cited materials.

Where was Shardbound available?
The October 2024 Open Beta was announced for Steam and the Epic Games Store. The official FAQ identifies those as the game’s storefront routes. The Epic listing specifies an Epic ID. Because storefront pages and availability can change, check the live listings for current access and account requirements rather than assuming the 2024 launch arrangements still apply.

Is Shardbound still in beta or actively supported?
Current storefront language alone does not settle the game’s present service or development status. The Steam page still uses Early Access language, but it also says the last developer update was more than 17 months ago and retains a planned full-launch date before the end of 2024. That launch window is now past, so the listing does not confirm that the game remains in beta, is playable, or is actively maintained today.
The June 2024 Limited Beta post documented changes including faction battle passes, card and pack purchase options, card-leveling changes, new card art, and interface, matchmaking, and gameplay updates. Those details describe that earlier test, not the October Open Beta’s current state.
