What sold, and for how much?
Heritage Auctions reported a $27,500 sale on October 8, 2026 for the item titled “Shigeru Miyamoto Mario & Fire Flower Signed Shikishi Original Art (2004) PSA Authentic.” The auction house’s archive also shows a $27,500 result for the same titled item on November 23, 2024. Those are two reported auction results on separate dates, not one continuing valuation. Heritage’s archived item record identifies the collectible and its reported results.

A Heritage search result showed a $10,001 bid before the 2026 sale. That was a pre-sale bid, not the final result; the reported sale price was $27,500. Heritage’s search results display the bid figure.
Is it accurate to call it a sketch made 22 years ago?
Heritage calls the piece signed shikishi original art and dates it to 2004. That supports describing it as a Miyamoto-attributed Mario and Fire Flower shikishi dated 2004. The available record does not explain the physical medium or the circumstances in which the art was made, nor does it establish a specific creation date. The “22 years ago” phrasing therefore should not be treated as a verified interval.

The listing identifies the item as PSA Authentic, but the available record does not explain the authentication scope. It also does not provide a complete ownership history. Those limits matter when evaluating an individual collectible: the title, attribution, authentication label, and documented chain of ownership are distinct pieces of information.
What does the auction result say about its value?
The two $27,500 results show that Heritage reported the same titled collectible selling at that amount in 2024 and again in 2026. They are evidence of reported transactions, not independent appraisals, a current asking price, or a promise that another Miyamoto item—or even this one in a future sale—would bring the same amount. The records do not specify whether the reported totals include buyer’s premium or other fees.

For any collectible comparison, the useful details include the artist and attribution, subject, format and medium, authentication documentation, condition, provenance, sale date, auction venue, and whether a figure is a bid or a reported sale total. The available record does not provide enough detail to evaluate this shikishi on every one of those points.
