This guide explains how to find and fuse demons in the level 21–40 range without mixing the original Shin Megami Tensei V roster with additions from Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. The available guides do not establish a complete, edition-matched roster or recipe list for this level band, so verify a demon’s base level and fusion recipe in your game before relying on a specific entry.

Which demons are level 21–40?

A complete, verified list of demons with base levels 21–40 is not established by the available compendium references. The guides cover different editions and purposes rather than providing an interchangeable, level-filtered roster: PowerPyx’s compendium and fusion list is for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, while GameFAQs’ guide is dated January 4, 2022, and covers the original release.

GameFAQs describes its compendium as listing demon names, races, base stats, potentials, and skills, but not fusion recipes; it directs readers to Reverse Compendium Fusion for recipe discovery. PowerPyx’s Vengeance guide provides a recipe for each demon it covers, while noting that other recipes may be possible. Neither source supports treating its material as a complete level 21–40 table across both editions. GameFAQs’ original-game guide and PowerPyx’s Vengeance compendium guide are useful starting points, but confirm the demon’s level and availability in the edition you are playing.

How to fuse demons

Go to a leyline and enter the World of Shadows to fuse demons. SEGA/ATLUS describes the process as working with Sophia to fuse demon allies and create new ones. The official Vengeance system page names four options: Dyad Fusion, Special Fusion, Reverse Fusion, and Elemental Fusion. See the official Vengeance systems overview for its edition-specific description of these features.

Use Reverse Compendium Fusion to find missing demons

When your goal is to fill out the compendium, use Reverse Compendium Fusion to view candidates that can be made from demons you have registered. PowerPyx recommends this as a quick way to find missing demons and notes that the choices become more useful as more demons are recorded.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Standard Edition - Nintendo Switch
  • Unfold an allusive story filled with tragic choices, make sacrifices to uphold your ideals as you pursue light or covet darkness to discover your role in the new world
  • Fight through a demon-infested wasteland with the Press Turn Battle System, pinpoint enemy weaknesses so you can perform consecutive actions but make one mistake and it may be your last
  • Turn formidable foes into worthy allies by recruiting them via negotiations, then fuse them to create demons customized to fit your playstyle
  • Explore the expansive world of post-apocalyptic Tokyo, fully rendered in stunning 3D utilizing Unreal Engine 4, a first for the mainline Shin Megami Tensei series
  1. At a leyline, open the World of Shadows.
  2. Choose the reverse-compendium fusion option and review the demons currently available from your registered compendium entries.
  3. Select a candidate, then check its displayed requirements and cost before confirming the fusion.
  4. If the demon you want is not available, register more demons or pursue its specific unlock before checking again.

A recipe shown in a guide is one possible route, not necessarily the only route. PowerPyx explicitly notes that alternatives may exist, so use the in-game reverse-compendium options to find a route that fits the demons you have registered.

Fusion result and final build are separate choices

Fusion determines which demon you create; in Vengeance, Essence Fusion offers another way to adjust that demon afterward. Essences can change affinities and skills, so a demon’s innate traits and the skills or resistances transferred through an Essence should not be treated as the same thing. Review the result’s innate abilities first, then decide whether an Essence or a Miracle better serves the role you want.

Edition and unlock caveats

PowerPyx’s guide is explicitly for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance and is dated July 1, 2024. It reports 276 demons in that edition, including two paid DLC demons that it says are not required for the Compendium Loremaster trophy. That figure is specific to the Vengeance guide; it is not a count for the original 2021 release.

The Vengeance compendium may also depend on subquests, fusion accidents, ending routes, and New Game+. A demon’s absence from your current list may therefore reflect an unlock requirement rather than its level or a missing fusion combination. Check the relevant edition and unlock conditions before treating a roster entry as generally available.

Shin Megami Tensei V Fall of Man Premium Edition (Nintendo Switch)
  • In Shin Megami Tensei V, the latest entry in the acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei RPG series, play as a high school student who must harness newfound powers to fight through a demon-infested wasteland using a command-based system. Though demons are formidable opponents, some can be worthy allies and recruited via negotiations to fight alongside you in a dying world. How will your destiny unfold?

For any level-band list you build from an edition-specific source, verify each demon’s base level, race, availability, fusion type, and one reproducible recipe in-game. Also note whether that route depends on a quest, ending, DLC, or New Game+; the available material does not verify those details for every demon from level 21 through 40.
