For the Shinagawa encounters, Samurai Gamers’ September 4, 2024 guide recommends different lineups for Loup-Garou, Fionn mac Cumhaill, and Lahmu. Its “mid-game” scope covers Shinagawa and Chiyoda rather than a fixed level threshold.
How to choose a mid-game demon team
Build for the next encounter rather than keeping one lineup unchanged. Check the boss’s weaknesses and attacks, then fill the jobs your current roster lacks:
- Offense: bring physical or elemental attacks that suit the matchup.
- Survival: account for incoming elements and avoid leaving a key demon exposed to a weakness the boss can exploit.
- Support: add healing, buffs, or debuffs if the team needs them more than another attacker.
The recommendations below are encounter-specific options from Samurai Gamers’ guide, not a universal tier list or independently verified performance ranking. The guide also lists fusion recipes; check your in-game fusion menu and current progression before relying on a recipe being available.

Why Vengeance-specific context matters
Atlus describes Vengeance as an expanded version of Shin Megami Tensei V, with new areas, demons, music, a revised battle system, and two story paths: the new Canon of Vengeance and the original Canon of Creation. Check the official game page for the game’s current edition and platform details.
In a June 4, 2024 PlayStation Blog feature, Atlus game director Shigeo Komori described “270 new and familiar demons” and new Magatsuhi Skills. That is an official content description, not a measure of which demons are strongest in mid-game. Komori also described Demon Haunts, where conversations with party demons can increase their stats, alongside exploration features that use demons’ particular skills.

Use these lists as options to rotate, not a requirement to fuse every demon. A specialized attacker may be valuable for one boss and less useful in another matchup. Compare each candidate’s strengths with its weaknesses, then keep the healing and support your party actually needs. Oni illustrates the tradeoff: the guide values its physical role and skills, while warning that its Elec weakness can be dangerous.
