In a Pokémon News post published December 6, 2024, The Pokémon Company said that “the Sky High Pokémon descends upon Paldea on December 19, 2024!” The announced raid was for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Nintendo Switch role-playing games released November 18, 2022. Which dates belong to which raids?
The announcement also listed a separate 5-star Tera Raid period for Azumarill and Clodsire. Those Pokémon were described as popular choices for the upcoming Rayquaza event, but their schedule is not Rayquaza’s schedule.

Was the raid available until January 5?
A Pokémon Forums commenter described it as happening “on the 19th December until the 5th,” but that user-generated post does not verify an end date. The official page cited here confirms December 19 as the arrival date and does not give the Shiny Rayquaza event’s end date. Do not treat January 5 as an officially confirmed deadline on the basis of that comment. See the forum discussion.

The Pokémon News page says players need the latest Poké Portal News to encounter the advertised raid content. Its general instructions are:
- Open the X menu and select Poké Portal.
- Select Mystery Gift, then choose Check Poké Portal News.
- Look for raid encounters at sparkling Tera Raid crystals.
These are the page’s general access instructions; they do not specify a complete set of Shiny Rayquaza-specific participation rules.
