Choose Eastern Dragon if you want to keep moving while charging Heatwave Cannon for grinding. Choose Western Dragon if faster flight or aiming Scorching Downfall matters more for travel and player fights. That is a practical use-case recommendation from the current Gamersberg guide—not proof that either form is universally stronger.
How Eastern and Western Dragon differ
Update 24 introduced Eastern and Western Dragon as variants of the reworked Dragon Fruit. The official Dragon Update announcement, published December 16, 2024, says Permanent Dragon grants two transformation options. The current Gamersberg guide says the variants share their base and Hybrid moves, with the main differences appearing in full-dragon form.

Choose Eastern for grinding
Eastern is the better fit if you want to charge Heatwave Cannon without having to stay still. The guide’s reasoning is practical: being able to move during the charge can help when grinding requires repositioning. The guide also characterizes Eastern as slower than Western, so it is less compelling if rapid flight is your main concern.

Choose Western for travel or player fights
Western is the stronger starting choice if you prioritize flight speed or want to aim Scorching Downfall. Those features are why the guide points players toward Western for travel and PvP. Treat this as a preference-based recommendation, not a guarantee of better results: the sources do not show that Western wins every matchup or outperforms Eastern in every activity.
Balance changes can make older comparisons stale
Dragon has received balance changes since its rework, so check the date of any comparison you rely on. The community page Blox Fruits FR’s Update 26.8 notes reports changes released August 17, 2025. Among the listed changes, Eastern’s Z charge time became 25% faster; Western’s Z gained 25% range and charge speed. The notes also report that Eastern C launches 15% faster and lasts 15% longer, while Western C damage increased 50% and its area range decreased 20%. These are patch deltas, not a complete description of every current mechanic.

The same patch notes report increased Fury costs and removal of some transformed stuns. The Gamersberg guide’s update history additionally records Update 30 adding Eastern and Western Dragon to regular Gacha rolls on September 5, 2026. That availability detail is attributed to the community guide, not the official Dragon Update announcement.

The official announcement establishes that Permanent Dragon has two transformation options. The Gamersberg guide says a Permanent Dragon owner can choose Eastern or Western, while a physical Dragon fruit is one variant or the other. The official announcement does not establish a current price, stock status, or acquisition route, so check the in-game options for current availability rather than relying on old price claims.
