Give Savlian Matius the Count’s Signet Ring if you want to complete The Battle for Castle Kvatch. The walkthrough lists the Kvatch Cuirass as the quest reward. If you would rather wait, the guide marks the quest optional, but the available sources do not establish what happens if you keep the ring long-term or whether you can get it back after handing it over.
What happens when you give Savlian the ring?
Returning the ring to Savlian is the documented step that finishes The Battle for Castle Kvatch. The walkthrough lists the Kvatch Cuirass as the reward for completing the quest. GameFAQs walkthrough by Shotgunnova
The guide also describes the cuirass as fortifying Endurance and Strength; it does not establish a separate reward for keeping the ring. Bethesda calls the item the Count’s Signet Ring, while the walkthrough calls it the Colovian Signet Ring.
Can you keep the ring instead?
The walkthrough marks The Battle for Castle Kvatch optional, so you can defer the quest according to that guide. However, the sources do not confirm whether keeping the ring affects later story content, whether the quest can be completed later under all circumstances, or whether the ring can be recovered after you hand it to Savlian. Treat keeping it as postponing the documented completion step, not as a confirmed alternative with known long-term consequences. GameFAQs walkthrough by Shotgunnova
