What happens if you give the tablets to Maggot?
Maggot asks you to meet him at the Menhir at night and performs the rite, restoring Cuanacht’s Menhir. The guide says this gives the people of Cuanacht hope that they can defend themselves from Kamelot. You do not receive Denholm’s monetary reward.
What happens if you give the tablets to Denholm?
Denholm praises you, shares more of his plans for Cuanacht and the Menhir, and offers a monetary reward. The guide says this pleases Kamelot, but leaves Cuanacht without a restored Menhir and its people with little hope of salvation.
Does the choice affect the next story quest?
No. The Grail Cycle walkthrough reports that the story quest begins after Menhir Rites whichever recipient you choose, and Lord Yvain sets out in search of the Holy Grail in either branch. The available guides establish this immediate transition, not the effect of the decision on every later outcome or ending.

How you reach the choice
The two halves of the tablets are obtained during the Harrowing of Hearts and Deiform questlines: one at Sagremor Castle and the other in the Corrupted Temple. According to the walkthrough, telling Denholm what Maggot revealed opens the later choice of whom to give the tablets to.

- Choose Maggot if restoring Cuanacht’s Menhir and helping the settlement is more important to you than Denholm’s payment.
- Choose Denholm if you prefer the monetary reward and Kamelot’s approval, accepting that Cuanacht is left without the restored Menhir.
The choice guide does not establish one objectively best option. Its reported consequences make the tradeoff local protection and support for Cuanacht versus Denholm’s reward and Kamelot’s favor. These are guide-reported outcomes, not independently verified gameplay results.
