Quick answer: In the final encounter, you can kill Amita or let her leave. A GameFAQs walkthrough reports that sparing her makes her leave and does not identify a gameplay reward for killing her. Treat this as a role-playing choice, not a requirement for finishing the game. The encounter is separate from the earlier decision about who leads the Golden Path.
What happens if you kill or spare Amita?
At the endgame encounter, Ajay can kill Amita or spare her. According to the GameFAQs walkthrough, if you spare her, she leaves. The guide does not document a distinct gameplay benefit for killing her, so there is no documented mission reward that makes one action mechanically superior.

Choose based on the story you want for Ajay: spare her if you prefer not to make her fate final, or kill her if Ajay would reject her rule and you want that choice to have a direct consequence in his story.
Is this the same as choosing the Golden Path’s leader?
No. The final encounter with Amita is separate from the earlier leadership decision. That earlier choice determines whether Amita or Sabal leads the Golden Path after Pagan’s defeat; it is not the same choice as whether Ajay kills Amita later. GameFAQs’ walkthrough also describes a leader-specific scene after the ending where the player can still kill Amita or Sabal; killing them there causes Karma loss.

How earlier Amita–Sabal mission choices work
Earlier Balance of Power decisions can change which mission you get next, but they do not necessarily lock you into one side for every later operation. A GameFAQs PS4 walkthrough describes this flexibility, while Gamepressure’s guide to Balance of Power missions explains how choices affect the missions and eventual leadership outcome.
Amita’s leadership path includes destroying the Jalendu temple, rejecting traditions she regards as oppressive. The guides describe this narrative direction; they do not establish an objectively best outcome for Kyrat.

Which option should you choose?
- Sparing Amita: Choose this if you want to leave her fate less final. The cited walkthrough says she leaves.
- Killing Amita: Choose this if Ajay’s rejection of her rule should carry a personal consequence in your version of the story. No distinct gameplay advantage is documented.
These details come from secondary walkthroughs, not official developer commentary. The sources reviewed describe PS4 and Xbox One editions; platform-specific differences have not been established. Ubisoft’s official Far Cry 4 page describes Kyrat’s setting and the game generally, but does not explain this encounter.
