On July 11, 2025, Battlestate Games studio head Nikita Buyanov responded to a player criticizing Escape from Tarkov’s recent hardcore wipe with “oh shut the f*** up,” then followed up about ten minutes later: “i’m joking, don’t shut the f*** up. Every opinion matters”. The exchange drew mixed reactions, according to contemporaneous news reports.
What Buyanov said to the player
Insider Gaming reported that a player wrote to Buyanov, “You destroyed your game, bro.” Buyanov quoted the criticism and replied, “oh shut the f*** up”. About ten minutes later, he posted: “i’m joking, don’t shut the f*** up. Every opinion matters”. Insider Gaming’s July 11, 2025 report attributed those words to the posts.

Why the exchange happened during wipe criticism
The exchange came two days after Battlestate Games released what Insider Gaming called a “hardcore wipe.” The outlet reported that the studio had been correcting issues and reversing some choices while complaints continued. The incident is a dated response to criticism around that July 2025 wipe, not a description of the game’s present condition.

How players reacted

GameMeca also covered the controversy. These are reported reactions, not results from a representative poll, so they do not establish how the player community as a whole felt.
