Spoilers for all of Sifu’s endings and its post-credits scene. Sifu has two main story outcomes: the revenge ending, earned by killing the bosses, and the Wude ending, earned by sparing all five. What guides often call a third ending is a short dojo scene after the Wude route’s credits, not a separate boss-choice path.

How many endings does Sifu have?

The clearest way to count them is two main endings, plus a post-credits epilogue. The revenge and Wude outcomes depend on what the protagonist does in the boss fights. The dojo scene follows the Wude route and is sometimes counted as a third ending, but it does not require a third set of choices.

Outcome What you do What it represents
Revenge Defeat the targets by killing them. The protagonist completes the revenge-driven path.
Wude Spare all five bosses, including Yang. The protagonist rejects revenge in favor of the game’s Wude ideal.
Post-credits dojo scene Complete the Wude route and stay through the credits. An epilogue often counted as a third ending, rather than a separate main route.

GameSpot’s ending guide distinguishes the revenge and Wude outcomes; GamesRadar+ notes the brief post-credits scene after the Wude route.

The revenge ending: kill the targets

The revenge outcome follows the straightforward boss-defeat route: kill the targets rather than spare them. Simply beating the bosses does not unlock the alternate Wude ending. The choice carries the game’s central contrast between revenge and its stated ideal of martial discipline and restraint.

The Wude ending: spare all five bosses

To earn the Wude outcome, replay the stages after your first completion and spare every boss. You can do this in any order; you do not have to revisit the stages in a prescribed sequence. Sparing each boss grants a talisman:

Boss Talisman
Fajar Wood
Sean Fire
Kuroki Water
Jinfeng Metal
Yang Earth

These names and the all-five requirement are listed in GameSpot’s guide to sparing bosses. The key is to use the boss’s Structure rather than finish the fight by draining their health.

How to spare the first four bosses

  1. Win the first phase. Fight through it normally.
  2. In the second phase, build and break the boss’s Structure. Do not use the normal finisher when it appears.
  3. Let Structure recover, then break it again. Repeat until the game offers the Spare prompt.
  4. Choose Spare. Avoid reducing the boss’s health to zero before the prompt appears.

How sparing Yang differs

Use the same broad approach against Yang: break his Structure and choose Spare when the prompt appears. The encounter then continues into another phase. In that final phase, break his Structure again and use the finisher prompt to complete the spared route.

What the post-credits dojo scene shows

After the Wude route, stay through the credits to see a brief scene associated with the protagonist as a teacher at the dojo. That future-facing image is why some guides describe Sifu as having three endings. It is more precise to call it an epilogue to Wude: the available accounts describe no separate boss-choice route for it.

Gurei - PlayStation 5
  • You are free to pick your fights against the Kami in any order. The game features a dynamic difficulty system where each enemy strength is defined by the player’s chosen path. This means that the very same Kami fought at the very beginning could also be the final boss in a different route. Hope to never leave the one you struggle most to fight last!
  • Besides sword attacks, dodges, head stomps and other basic abilities, Rei will learn a completely new skill for each defeated Kami. Those will provide further depth to your combat arsenal, be it a stronger dash, a weapon that can execute enemies, the ability to heal and many more!
  • Player choice is the ultimate power. Taking into account the vastly distinct enemies’ patterns and unique skills granted upon each victory, you will be able to decide how to approach every challenge. It won’t be easy either way, but you can always go back and try something different.
  • Gurei is a game about fighting strong enemies, but that’s not all. The Kami inhabit a surreal castle located between the human and spirit worlds. After each victory, Rei comes closer to the realm of spirits, starting to encounter peculiar characters from Japanese mythology. These creatures will add novelty and strangeness to your journey, providing commentary, unique animations, side objectives and obscure secrets.
  • You will get to know the different Kami quite well. When Rei defeats them, she absorbs their power and their personality. The defeated Kami will be carried around wherever Rei goes, and they’ll surely have stuff to talk about. Sometimes their remarks will be useful information that builds the player’s understanding of the lore and the game mechanics, but sometimes they will be... not so helpful, to put it briefly. Good luck!

The scene does not establish exactly how the protagonist survives or returns. Explanations involving Yang reviving the protagonist, the pendant, or enlightenment are interpretations rather than a mechanism confirmed by the cited accounts.

What Wude means in Sifu’s story

Wude is not simply a no-combat or pacifist run. The ending requirement is to spare the five named bosses; reaching it still involves extensive fighting. Sloclap Community Manager Felix Garczynski described the game’s martial-arts theme this way: “Kung fu or ‘gōngfu’ can refer to any discipline or skill achieved through hard work, practice and patience.” In that framing, sparing the bosses turns the player away from revenge and toward discipline and self-improvement. Garczynski’s PlayStation.Blog article was published November 18, 2021.

How the pendant and aging system fit the story

The protagonist begins at age 20 and pursues the enemies in a single night. Sloclap explains that the pendant revives the protagonist after death, but each successive death adds more years: one year on the first death, two on the second, three on the third, and so on. Aging reduces maximum health while increasing offensive power, and the game can be completed at any age. These mechanics raise the stakes of repeated attempts, but the cited developer explanation does not connect age to ending eligibility. Sloclap’s explanation of the death and aging systems covers these details.
