The story follows Aki Mizuno, a teenager whose mother disappears and leaves behind a cellphone with supernatural abilities. Aki investigates a series of disappearances and the truth about herself at Nishikawa High School.
Is it based on Serial Experiments Lain or Jujutsu Kaisen?
No official listing identifies either anime as source material, and the game has not been announced as a licensed crossover or adaptation. The comparison is best understood as a reader-facing description of genre associations: the publisher confirms psychological and supernatural horror with a 1990s anime-inspired look, but does not name either series as an influence.

A feature from Rotten Usagi discusses Serial Experiments Lain in the context of anime horror and techno-horror, including themes of reality and identity. That provides context for the comparison, but it does not establish a connection to Signal Veil.
How does the supernatural cellphone work?
Aki’s phone is a detection tool, not merely a story prop. It vibrates, makes unusual sounds, and shows interference around spiritual presences or lingering memories. The game’s overview says it can help locate enemies, corrupted areas, and clues.

- Languages – English in-game voice. English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, and Spanish (Spain) in-game text.
Enemies cannot simply be attacked as soon as they appear: players must expose hostile entities before fighting them. The official description also says players manage limited medicine, key items, and mystical weapons. Aki’s emotional state can distort her perception and affect both the environment and enemy behavior.
