A Steam user reported success with this option, but that is an individual anecdote rather than a confirmed general fix. If one career save fails, protect it before changing the setup
If new games load but one existing career crashes, focus on that save rather than immediately changing the whole installation. Protect game data before trying riskier changes
Do not delete the game’s Documents folder as a first-line fix.
