The Sims 4 Gallery needs an internet connection and an EA Account sign-in. If it is blank, unavailable, stuck loading, or refusing to download content, check EA’s service status first, then restart the game and platform, verify your account connection, disable Mods and Custom Content, clear the EA app cache, repair the installation, and only then test with a backed-up Sims 4 user folder.
The right fix depends on the symptom: an outage affects everyone, while filters, missing Packs, an account mismatch, outdated Mods, or damaged local files may affect only one player.

- Check EA server status and official EA Help updates.
- Close The Sims 4, quit the EA app or platform client, restart the device, and reboot the router.
- Make sure the game is online and signed into the correct EA Account.
- Disable Mods and Custom Content, especially after a game update.
- Clear the EA app cache on PC or Mac.
- Repair the game installation through the EA app, or verify files through Steam or Epic.
- Back up and reset the Sims 4 user folder as a last-resort diagnostic step.
1. Check whether the Gallery is down
Before reinstalling anything, check EA’s official server-status information. If EA services are unavailable, local cache clearing, repairs, and reinstallations cannot restore the Gallery. Wait for the service to recover and check EA Help or official game-account updates again later.
Test the web Gallery if possible. If both the website and in-game Gallery fail, the issue is more likely service-side, account-related, or network-related. If the website works but the in-game Gallery does not, focus on the game client, cache, Mods, and local files.

2. Confirm your internet and EA Account connection
The Gallery is an online feature, not an offline part of The Sims 4. Confirm that the device is connected to the internet and that the EA app is not in Offline Mode.
- Sign out of the EA app, restart it, and sign back in.
- Check that you are using the EA Account containing your Gallery profile, uploads, and Library content.
- Temporarily disable a VPN to test whether it is interfering with the connection.
- Try a phone hotspot or another network as a diagnostic test. If the Gallery works there, the home network may be blocking or interrupting the connection.
- Restart the router by powering it off, unplugging it for about a minute, reconnecting it, and trying again.
EA lists changing DNS as a possible general connection step, but it is not a guaranteed Sims 4 Gallery fix. Do not treat it as a substitute for checking the service status or account connection.
3. Check Gallery filters and Custom Content visibility
A blank search does not always mean the Gallery is broken. Clear all search terms, hashtags, and filters, then try a simple search for a known creator or a basic household.
On PC and Mac, check the Gallery search controls or left-side search panel for the option to show Custom Content. A Sim, household, or lot using Custom Content may not appear when that content is hidden. Enable the option only when you intend to browse those results.
This setting does not make third-party content officially supported. EA does not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific Mods or Custom Content.
4. Disable or isolate Mods and Custom Content
Outdated or incompatible Mods can affect the game interface and Gallery behavior, particularly after a Sims 4 update. EA disables Mods after updates because previously working files may no longer be compatible.

- Test the Gallery and Live Mode.
- Close the game without saving while that content is disabled.
- Check each Mod creator’s site for a version compatible with the current Sims 4 patch.
- To re-enable them, open Game Options → Other → Enable Custom Content and Mods, then restart the game.
Do not save while Custom Content or Mods are disabled. EA warns that saving in this state can remove Custom Content from a save. If the Gallery works cleanly, add updated files back in batches. For a large Mods folder, use a 50/50 test: restore half, test, divide the problematic half again, and continue until the incompatible file is identified.

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
For update-related problems, consult EA’s Mods and game-updates guidance. A recent patch may be related to the problem, but that does not prove that the patch caused every Gallery failure.
5. Clear the EA app cache
Clear the EA app cache on PC or Mac when the app is stuck in Offline Mode, games are missing from the Library, or downloads and updates are stuck. EA states that cache clearing cannot fix an EA service outage.
In the current EA app interface:
- Open the EA app.
- On Windows, select the three dashes in the upper-left. On macOS, select Help at the top of the screen.
- Choose App Recovery.
- Select Clear Cache.
- Relaunch the EA app and The Sims 4.
If the EA app will not open on Windows, use Start → All Apps → EA → App Recovery → Clear Cache. Labels can change between EA app versions, so use the closest equivalent if the interface differs.
6. Repair The Sims 4
Repairing checks the installed game files. It may help when damaged or incomplete files prevent the game or its online features from loading, but it cannot resolve a server outage or guarantee a fix for an account problem.
In the EA app, go to Library, find The Sims 4, select the three-dot menu on its game tile, choose Repair, wait for the process to finish, and test the Gallery.
If you launch through Steam or Epic Games Store, use that platform’s own file-verification tool. Do not use the EA app’s Repair command unless the game is actually managed through the EA app. Repairing game files is not the same as deleting saves.
7. Test with a clean Sims 4 user folder
Use this advanced step only after the connection, account, Mods, cache, and installation checks. A reset can reveal whether the problem is inside your saves, Mods, downloaded Gallery content, or other user data.

- If it works, close the game and restore folders one at a time.
- Test after each restoration. The item that brings the problem back—such as a Mod, downloaded content folder, or save—is the likely source.
Do not permanently delete the original folder without a verified backup. This procedure is for PC and Mac; console players should not modify the Windows or macOS Sims 4 folder.

The Gallery is blank or will not open
Check EA’s service status, test the website Gallery, sign out and back into the correct EA Account, and restart the game and platform. If the website works, disable Mods, clear the EA app cache, repair the installation, and then test a clean user folder.
Search returns no results
Clear filters, try a known creator or simple term, check hashtags, and review the Custom Content visibility setting. Restart the game if the search remains empty.
Downloads fail or do not appear in My Library
Confirm that the download completed rather than merely opening its preview. Check the relevant category in My Library, verify the EA Account, and restart the game. Test a simple base-game household or lot.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSome uploads require Packs you do not own or use Custom Content. An item may therefore be unavailable or incomplete without indicating that the entire Gallery is broken. EA also warns that changing Pack availability can affect existing saves; see its Pack installation guidance.
Uploads fail
Test whether ordinary Gallery browsing and downloads work. If they do, restart the game, confirm the account, and try uploading a simple base-game household or lot. A single upload may contain unavailable Packs, Custom Content, or corrupted data.
Only Custom Content items are missing
Check the Gallery’s Custom Content visibility option and confirm that the intended Mods and Custom Content are enabled. Keep in mind that visibility and in-game loading are separate: enabling a Gallery filter does not guarantee that third-party content will work correctly.

The problem began after an update
Keep Mods disabled, confirm the game is fully updated, check creators’ compatibility notes, and repair the installation. Search EA Help and the EA Forums for a confirmed patch-specific issue, rather than assuming every post-update failure has the same cause.

One Sim, lot, or upload is broken
Try another creator and a simple base-game item. If other content downloads successfully, the Gallery service is probably working. The individual upload may be broken, Pack-dependent, removed, or reliant on Custom Content. Report offensive or rule-breaking content through the Gallery instead of trying to repair it locally; EA explains the process here.
Gallery versus Marketplace
The Gallery and The Sims 4 Marketplace are separate services. The Marketplace sells downloadable content, while the Gallery is the player-sharing service for Sims, households, lots, and rooms. A problem with one does not automatically mean the other is unavailable.
When to contact EA
If the Gallery still fails after the relevant steps, contact EA Help or post in the EA Forums. Include:
- Your platform and storefront, such as EA app, Steam, Epic, PlayStation, or Xbox.
- Your Sims 4 version number.
- Your EA Account ID or username, without posting sensitive account information publicly.
- The exact error message.
- Whether the website Gallery works.
- Whether the issue persists with Mods removed.
- Whether you cleared the EA app cache or repaired the installation.
- Relevant screenshots or a short video.
That information helps distinguish an outage, authentication problem, platform issue, incompatible Mod, and damaged local user data.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does The Sims 4 Gallery require internet?
Yes. The Gallery is an online feature and also requires an EA Account sign-in.
Can Mods stop the Gallery from working?
Outdated or incompatible Mods can affect the game and its interface, especially after an update. Test with Mods disabled, but do not save while Custom Content is disabled.
Will clearing the EA app cache delete my Sims?
Clearing the EA app cache is separate from the Sims 4 user folder. It should not delete saves, but keep a backup before performing advanced file changes.
Should I reinstall The Sims 4?
Not as a first step. Check service status, account and network connection, Mods, the EA app cache, and game repair first.
