When did the new Skate game come out?
EA announced the date on August 26, 2025, and skate. entered Early Access on September 16, 2025. That was an Early Access launch, not a claim that the game had reached a finished, final release.

At launch, EA listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app. EA’s FAQ also mentions Android and iOS as later platforms, but does not give a release date for them.
Why does the headline say it took 15 years?
EA’s October 8, 2025 retrospective described the new entry as arriving in Early Access “after 15 years since the last installment.” The 15 years refers to the gap between franchise installments, not a wait measured from the headline’s publication date.

What launched in Early Access?
EA describes skate. as a free-to-play online multiplayer skateboarding sandbox set in San Vansterdam, with cross-platform and cross-progression play. Early Access is the start of an ongoing development and live-service period; EA warns players that bugs and other issues may occur. Optional in-game cosmetic purchases are available, but the game itself is free to play.
What do you need to play on PC?
EA says keyboard and mouse are unsupported for PC Early Access, so PC players need a controller. Its examples include PS4 DualShock, PS5 DualSense, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S controllers; these are examples of supported controller families, not comparative recommendations.

In EA’s August 26, 2025 announcement, Executive Producer Mike McCartney said: “Our goal with skate. is to capture the freedom, creative expression and community of skateboarding, and share it with as many people as possible.”
